"Was ready" They still are.

[–] Catma@lemmy.world 35 points 4 days ago (1 children)

They used to be ready. They still are. But they used to be too.

Yeah I don't think Trump's obsession with Greenland is over.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 28 points 4 days ago (3 children)

It might be. His attention span is like a gnat.

Remember when he wanted to bomb Ohio in 2017? Most people don't. He probably doesn't. He sent 1 tweet, that if any other president said that would be all that president would ever be known for. Here, it doesn't even crack the top 1000 list of craziest things he's been part of.

Nobody I know even remembers that.

Trump's Greenland thing is a multi-year obsession, not a one-off

It's not quite as bad as his obsession with attacking Iran, which goes back into the 1980s, but it's long-lasting enough that it's not safe to count on it just going away.

[–] Fuckfuckmyfuckingass@lemmy.world 9 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I don't remember him wanting to bomb Ohio, do you have a source? It's not that I don't believe you, it's just googling this man's name and bomb is a fruitless endeavor.

I just remember him being all hysterical about "they're eating pets!!!??!!" and then a bunch of dumb ass MAGAts phoned bomb threats in to Ohio. Stochastic terrorism. I don't remember him saying he'd bomb though. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Tbf Trump has said a lot more about Greenland than 1 tweet.

[–] zeppo@lemmy.world 47 points 4 days ago (3 children)

My conservative coworker: “he never threatened to invade Greenland”

[–] SeductiveTortoise@piefed.social 42 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Tell him I hate him, and most of the world does as well. We all think he's a dumb asshole and responsible for the situation we're all in.

How is their nose after you punched them?

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Really thought you were going in a whole new direction with that.

[–] HumanOnEarth@lemmy.ca 3 points 4 days ago

They weren't, but the dude's nose sure is

[–] frank@sopuli.xyz 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I'm assuming that's in the US not in Denmark lol cuz holy shit even my most conservative coworkers are pretty floored by the Greenland stuff

[–] 8oow3291d@feddit.dk 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Sometimes, like your comment, I wonder if "conservative" is used as a synonym for "stupid".

[–] Thedogdrinkscoffee@lemmy.ca 5 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

For me it's synonymous with selfishness, stupidity and cruelty.

Edit: especially seeing everything as zero sum. There is no win-win. Everything is win-lose.

[–] 8oow3291d@feddit.dk 2 points 3 days ago

selfishness

The wild thing is that thing would be so much better, if they were just capable of being rationally selfish. Like, don't elect a blatantly corrupt selfish billionaire to be President. Instead elect people who don't want tax cuts for the 1%.

It's best to be prepared when threatened by an unstable fascist.

[–] L0rdMathias@sh.itjust.works 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Hell yeah bro. This is the type of thing I like to see. Preparedness never stops, always be planning ahead, always be ready for every possible outcome and at least one impossible outcome and also an additional five impossible ones.

[–] MutantTailThing@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

The fuck are you on about you mad bastard?

He’s saying to be prepared.

[–] Attacker94@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago

The ye olde swiss bridge strategy.

Does anyone have a paywall-free version?

since no /s and I'm tone deaf: Blood is used for transfusions to wounded soldiers. It's a shame that the words of a mad man translate to blood going to waste.
