These people have no place in this country. The US has always been a melting pot, it is its most valuable feature imo.

If you don't like that, then you should fucking leave. Good riddance.

Why not just say, nearly all Trump voters think Chinese Americans are a threat. We all know who that 25% is.

[–] FancyPantsFIRE@lemm.ee 23 points 2 days ago

Thought exactly this when I read the headline.

[–] superniceperson@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (4 children)

Given how anti china a lot of Dems are... I wouldn't be so sure that 25% is just republicans. How many Dems fell for the 'secret Chinese police stations capturing us citizens' nonsense from a few years ago?

[–] halcyoncmdr@lemmy.world 32 points 2 days ago (1 children)

There's a very distinct difference between anti-China and anti-Chinese.

Blurring that line is what the Republicans rely on to pass their bullshit. It is the same as the Israeli government blurring the line between their actions and general anti-Semitism.

oh shit i forgot about that, did anything happen with that? news agencies all stopped reporting about it mid-2023

The two people arrested were freed after charges were dropped and the doh never spoke a word about it or made any additional arrests. Additionally no other country made arrests, despite it he ng alleged by the US doj and tabloids that this is a global phenomena.

I don't know - how many?

Huh, only 25 percent, I would have thought it be around 40.

At any rate, just a reminder to Asian American brethern and other POC, 2A is a right that applies to all Americans and you know that these racist fucks are all over 2A like White on rice.

Which were the other two? One would be Russia in the fifties, I’m assuming?

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

First was in the 20s. Second was the 50s.

[–] Peppycito@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 days ago

Yes, the first one was Russia. The second one was Westlemania IIX

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 18 points 2 days ago

Unsurprising, unfortunately. This remains a deeply racist country.

[–] wwb4itcgas@lemm.ee 20 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Compared to what? Fascistic MAGA seditionists?

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

and polls taken from boomers, and red areas of course.

ABOUT OUR METHODOLOGY: To ensure representative accuracy, we ask only people still using landlines what they think. If a woman picks up, we ask for her husband or try again later. We are fully committed to keeping our data untainted by any female histrionics.

[–] BackgrndNoize@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Are Indians even included in these metrics, the rise in Indian hate speech on online platforms is surreal these days

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe in the recent espionage case, the person didn’t originally take the position with the intent to spy. Rather, they were contacted by the CCP after they were already in that role and were blackmailed into spying - using their family in China as leverage.

[–] UnfortunateShort@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I mean, that's fucked up and all, but this doesn't counter an 'I don't want Chinese to be in any important position' stance, it's actually a pro argument.

To combat this you can basically only attempt to counter the blackmail and sneak the whole family into the US. I don't think that's on the table for the current administration...

Also guaranteed that anyone east of Turkey may be considered Chinese to these people (because thousands of years of migration means there are ethnic groups far from the usual consideration of east asian yet lineage to the land tracing back centuries to over a millennium to the region that could be mistaken visually for east asian). Also what should not be a surprise to anyone is that if Chinese people face discrimination, so will Taiwanese people

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Racists have a hard time differentiating. My daughter in law is Burmese, not Chinese. Do the racists care? Nope.

[–] kryptonianCodeMonkey@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Honestly, if you're gonna dedicate your life to being an absolutely hateful piece of shit, take some pride, hone your craft. A good racist should be able to at least be able to get the highlights of your 23 and me profile right. The best car guys can call out the make, model, year, and trim package from a revving engine. I want to see a racist hear a foreign accent and exclaim "Oh! That's an '81 Vietnamese-Laotian bisexual... nope wait... pansexual! ... Gettem boys!"

[–] ChonkyOwlbear@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

Literally the first federal immigration law in the US was the Asian Exclusion Act which explicitly was written to keep Chinese immigrants from challenging white dominance.

[–] WatDabney@fedia.io 5 points 2 days ago

They're trying to line up the next minority to be sent to the Salvadoran torture prisons.

[–] tal@lemmy.today 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The transexual atheist Chinese-Americans are extra scary.

[–] match@pawb.social 1 points 2 days ago

they're honestly very friendly if you're able to communicate with autistic people well

[–] j0ester@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

I’m sure they found them a threat since Covid.

[–] network_switch@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 days ago

If Americans discriminated so hard against Chinese Americans - it’d probably hit all east/southeast Asians - to the point that they were excluded from defense/security, that would decimate defense/security product development

[–] Shootingstarrz17@lemmy.world -1 points 2 days ago

I'm surprised it's not more than 50%.
