Post things. Like things you think are fun and interesting.

Stay Calm and Observant. Be aware of your surroundings.

During the Crash: Protect Yourself

  1. Assume the Brace Position - The brace position minimizes injury during impact.
  2. Follow Instructions - Listen carefully to the crew’s instructions. They are trained to handle emergencies and can provide life-saving guidance.

After the Crash: Act Quickly

  1. Evacuate Immediately
  2. Help Yourself and Others
  3. Follow the Lights
  4. Distance Yourself from the Wreckage

I find that filtering communities that are irrelevant or not to your interests keeps the feed engaging and poignant. Same with certain users or even instances.

Agree, yet the same time, you kind of need to slog back through All on occasion to discover new interesting communities.

Links to communities should use this format !main@feddit.org so that clients will open them properly. https://feddit.org/c/main this format will not work properly. You can not do the same for links to posts or comments tho so you have to hard link those sadly.

To embed an externally hosted image like this you can use this format ![optional image description](image url)
You can ofcourse just upload the image to your instances media storage, but some instances have that disabled or have file size limits.

To embed a hyperlink into text you just Ctrl+C the URL, select the text that should contain the hyperlink and then Ctrl+V which will add the link to that selected text.

If you want to force a new line while writing text, you have to put two spaces at the end of the line.
like this
Otherwise you either need to put a full empty line in between or it will just be continuous flowing text.

Buy high. Sell high. Basically be high all the time, especially when doing stock markets.

Hit the lawyer, delete gym, facebook up.

Which instances are the Tankie Triad? lemmy.ml, and two others? Don't engage in politics with people from those instances, I think

[–] Dave@lemmy.nz 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I'm assuming Lemmygrad and Hexbear are the others.

Yep, them's the ones

[–] Photuris@lemmy.ml 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I didn’t know when I signed up. I just had to “pick a server,” so I did.

[–] BiteSizedZeitGeist@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Fair. It isn't something you learn until you sign up unfortunately :( It is free to sign up on another instance, at least

[–] altima_neo@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 days ago

It doesn't help that .ml is pretty much the "main" instance where the developers are at. So everyone assumes it's a good place to start.

[–] throwawayacc0430@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Stab them with the pointy tip.

Engage frequently and in good faith, understand this place is not populated enough for infinite scrolling, and have a good time.

“All” is a lot of US politics so keep that in mind when venturing away from your subscribed feed. You will frequently see multiple of the same posts in your feed - this isn’t spam, it’s posted to different communities and often different instances, since communities can have the same name but be on different servers.

That’s about all I got for now. Welcome and good luck!

Come on in, the water is warm.

Technically every part of your skin is between orifices, but good advice even so

[–] MantisToboggon@lazysoci.al 3 points 3 days ago

Lube up sailor.

Do something worthwhile with your time.

Something else.

But don't double dip

If you want to look for communities, look at https://lemmyverse.net/communities. They have an index of all communities on all instances, including those that your home instance of lemm.ee doesn't know about yet.
