So this non-serving ass clown wants OTHER people to sign up for a draft to protect his “unparalleled freedoms and opportunities” while he sits back and enjoys them. Says our freedoms are the envy of the world. My brother, have you ever even left the country? Because nothing says “unparalleled freedom” like going bankrupt from a hospital visit, watching your kids do active shooter drills, and needing a draft to staff a military that already has the biggest budget on the planet. But sure, the whole world is just green with envy. Absolutely seething. They’re over there with their universal healthcare and paid parental leave just WISHING they could be us.

I keep forgetting that Rob Schneider is an idiot

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago

Our freedoms still aren't hiding in the middle east. This is despite the fact that every time the government goes there some of our freedoms go missing

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I wonder whether Mr Schneider can point to any of those hard-won freedoms in this, Mr Trump's second year of 4.

I agree that freedoms must sometimes be won, but without any freedoms in evidence it's a hard sell.

What's progressive about this?

[–] Atomic@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Says our freedoms are the envy of the world.

I think I can speak for all of Sweden when I say: we are not even remotely envious of US "freedom"

There's this "old" song I think express our views just fine

We're not living in America. But we're not sorry, I knew there was something that we never had. We don't worry. No, we're not living in America. But we're not sorry. No we don't care about the world today. We're not sorry for you

As an American, I'm envious of the freedoms Europeans have. I hear in much of Europe you don't have to change doctors when you change jobs. And they let you spend a few months with your newborn child.

Rob Schneider can go fuck himself. He's a pathetic no-talent hack who's fallen ass-backwards into money. And because of that he now thinks he's some sort of genius. In truth, he's a dunce.

[–] Crackhappy@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

You first Rob.

[–] cheat700000007@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

Draft = you dont actually have freedom. I've said it since I was a child and the only response I get is "well they don't/won't actually use it". Well, enjoy either dying for what you don't believe in or going to prison. Y'know, that place that has legal slave labor.

[–] Bluefalcon@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 2 months ago

To quote an idiot... You can do it!

[–] NoFearFrontier@feddit.org 7 points 2 months ago

Rob Schneider is a pedo!

[–] TwinTitans@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

I dunno man. The US doesn’t seem very free anymore.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 6 points 2 months ago

We should make him walk the plank again.

[–] Shamber@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

It's seem like every ass clown has an opinion now

[–] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

Oh no, I didn't realize Rob Schneider was a complete moron. Sad day to learn that.

[–] metakrakalaka@lemmychan.org 5 points 2 months ago

The freedom to bomb brown people in the name of Israel?

The freedom to serve the ownership class while owning nothing ourselves?

Seems like a bad deal to me. I know who I'll be pointing my gun at if they force me to go to war.

[–] terabyterex@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

what freedoms is iran taking from us citizens? trump is taking rights away.

how fucked in the head do you have to be to say we need the draft for this bullshit war. after 9/11 the majority of the country was united in a response yet ibdont remember hearing "bring back this draft". now this stupisld war and i have heard it a few times in the last week.

The freedom to die in pointless wars?

Oh wait he's rich, he's talking about his freedom that poor people need to die for... makes sense...

[–] btsax@reddthat.com 5 points 2 months ago

There's a pretty good argument that the reason public support for the Vietnam War was so low was because of the draft. Compared to Iraq/Afghanistan, the all-volunteer military in those wars meant that public opinion was largely indifferent. You can do a lot more damage to the world when your population is indifferent to what you do with your military, so there's a good argument that a draft would be bad for those in power. But we're living in the upside-down now so a draft would probably help Trump for some insane reason.

Lets start drafting the idiots who lust for war, and the sons and daughters of those who jerk off furiously to the war, then see how hot to trot idiots are for war.

[–] Prior_Industry@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

Barron should deffo be part of the first wave. Trump wants to be a king, then sending his Son off to war to make a man of him is the logical conclusion in the new might makes right world. Surely prince Barron is not a coward?

He can schniff my sweaty taint for all I care. The dude never served, and is now advocating to force others to do it. Just to protect pedophiles.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Many Americans fled to Canada to escape the Vietnam draft, and it was a noble action for them to take. Anyone at risk of draft should know their options of how to avoid it. And if all else fails learn the history of the concept of fragging.

This is only the first time I've seen someone call for a draft, but I've known all along that a Draft is coming. Trump and his Wormtongue Stephen "PeeWee Himmler" Miller can't wait to send millions to die, and drafting an entire generation of young potential troublemakers solves a big problem as well.

For context, we lost 58K in Vietnam over about 12 years, and we lost over 4K in Afghanistan. Russia has lost over 1.2 MILLION in 4 years in Ukraine. Trump is going to want to COMPETE will those Russian numbers.

Trump is a profoundly mentally ill human, literally raised by sociopaths to be a sociopath, and he hit it out of the park, blowing right past sociopath, and into Psychopath territory. He will see all those war casualties as people who sacrificed their lives for him. He will brag to his Sociopathic Oligarch buddies around dinner at Maralago about how many have died for him. He will brag how more Americans have died for him, than Russians died for Putin. That's how he will keep score.

I remember when the Soviet Union wouldn't let their people travel outside the country, and I wondered why not. If they want to leave, let them leave. But now I understand. If Trump launches a draft, a LOT of young people are going to want to leave America, and their needed to run up Trump's score. So they won't allow people to travel outside the country anymore, unless they're, y'know, wealthy. Their kids won't be going to war to die for a point on Trump's scoreboard.

More Freedoms to be lost in the name of Freedom. Freedom isn't free, and sometimes you have to surrender your freedom to stay free. There's some MAGA logic for you.

I have a beautiful, intelligent, funny, talented son who is smack in the middle of draft age, and he is all I care about in the world. He is NEVER going to die in a Trump War. If ANYTHING were to happen to him, I would have nothing left to lose, and I would become a very dangerous person.

A Draft is one of those Red Lines that MAGA better not cross, or it's instant Civil War. Suspending Elections, and a Third Term are two others.

MAGA can't have our children.
