Iran has issued a gloating statement declaring victory over the US after Donald Trump declared a ceasefire in their war.

Trump announced a two-week ceasefire hours before a self-imposed deadline to begin destroying civilian infrastructure in Iran.

Now, Iran's Supreme National Security Council has celebrated Trump's actions.

"better off" 9news ignoring the thousands of Iranian civilians who have lost their lives during this stupid war. What a shitty news org.

It's clear the western world (media, politicians, etc) could not give less of a fuck about civilians in general

Pretty sure the current Iranian regime wouldn't either, which is probably the Iran the article title is talking about.

Iran isn't the people, it's the ruling class. It's the same way they talk about the US doing so well while most people struggle. It's all about the ruling class.

I read the article. It's worse than you think.

There's very little chance that the USA will accept the plan - among other things, that would mean paying reparations to Iran.

[–] panthera_@lemmy.today 4 points 2 days ago

Trump will not agree to reparations, but he could explain to Iran that ending sanctions would get them money and also that he will not object to Iran keeping the toll money from the Strait of Hormuz.
