When the Constitution was written (and for some time after) the country was filled with slave plantations.

More American exceptionalism will not get to the root of the problems causing the mistreatment of immigrants (and the US-born people of colour that are being swept up, too).

Yes and it was a large point of contention. Its like people don't know history at all. It was inherited from england and even initially there were issues around the hypocrisy of it and by the time of the constitution you are literally at the crux of when the first states and territories were banning it. Well before england did. The country was flegling and surrounded by enemies and competitors. It was compromised because they could not split into two at that time. This is why the country had to kill half of itself to finally get rid of it. I mean the civil war did not need to happen. Anything beyond slavery was not large enough to erupt in civil war. Its the constitutions ability to change that it (mostly) became illegal.

Genocide in Palestine. War in Iran. Concentration camps at home. Paradise for parasitic pedophiles.

Also the boat strikes excused by the war on drugs, the kidnapping of Maduro which was somehow a law enforcement action, and the blockade and threats of "taking" Cuba.

Oh and the theft of billions of dollars, the attack on our constitutional rights, among many other crimes wlhe will pardon himself for.

All to distract from the fact that he is a child rapist and murderer.

Debbie presenting this is probably a very intentional optics move, goddamn.

Pretty rich coming from the person who was head of the DNC and the main actor conspiring against Bernie when he was projected to clean up in the primaries.

Debbie, you helped this happen. You should resign in shame.

She also advised to platform and legitimise Trump thinking he would be an easy candidate for Clinton to beat.

I was about to say, she seemed very familiar. Thanks for making the connection for me!

Do not forget Debbie Wasserman Schultz is a large reason Trump won the election in 2016 and has never acknowledged it.

Biden was a huge reason student loans were unforgivable. The student debt relief champion. Wasserman burned Bernie then took a comfy job with the Clinton campaign.

The messaging sucks not because of the message but because of who they choose to deliver it.

I think you mean The Supreme Court?

[–] Bakkoda@lemmy.world 5 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Not even close. Look at Bidens Senate history. We're taking 70s/80s iirc

But also him doing jack shit to use another method for forgiveness AND happily allowing interest/payments to restart under his watch really drives home how much he didn't care

Send them all to trial. Every member of ICE needs to be held accountable for these crimes against humanity.

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 4 points 11 hours ago

Including Trump

[–] DudleyMason@lemmy.ml 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

And also the Neoliberal legislators who created the atmosphere of working class desperation that made a fascist strongman a viable candidate, right? DWS being one of the most prominent of them?

[–] DaMummy@hilariouschaos.com 8 points 1 day ago

She's probably right, but it's hard to listen to the AIPAC Democrat who won't speak about Sde Teiman.

[–] MBech@feddit.dk 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

And the responsible people tried for crimes against humanity right? Right???
