All very strange. Why is this surgeon driving a Lyft to make ends meet? This guy also has a history of removing the wrong organs or parts of organs from patients and has had his license revoked in 3 states. Article states he was not employed by the health services at the time? How the fuck does someone get to operate on someone else without being employed?!

The article says he is not "directly employed" by the hospital/health system.
This physician had his own practice and it sounds like they may have had some contract for him to come in, get consults, do surgeries and be reimbursed by insurance.
Also yes his past history is wild. Unfortunate it took so long to have his license revoked. I wonder if MD boards are like RN boards where theres like only 15 people employed for the whole state. Thats how CA was from my recollection 10 years ago.
If the deposition is true, that's an awful and tragic sequence of events.
I mean, they are right next to each other, but still. I wonder if this was a robotic case. It can be much more difficult to identify organs in a scope case
He described the procedure as “reaching around in a sink full of water trying to find a fork.” Not sure if it’s a robotics case.
Damn, the next season of dr. death is going to be awesome! This guys modus operandi is pretty similar to Christopher Duntsch. Hope he does not cripple as many people before he's stopped.
Yeah, there’s such a big difference between the two organs that this guy must be a serial killer. That’s the only way he could have removed multiple organs incorrectly over his career. Even a med student wouldn’t mistake a liver for a spleen, much less a licensed surgeon.
How the ever fucking fuck do you mistake a spleen for a liver they are in opposite sides they are different colors they are different sizes. This dude does not just deserve to have his license removed. The "mistake" he made could not have been negligent, it was intentional. He murdered that patient. Even I fucking know how to tell the difference between a spleen and a liver. For whatever god you weirdos worships sake unless you open up and go through the back the liver comes out before the spleen dammit he had to remove the liver and put it back to remove the spleen.
