Looking forward to seeing high stakes world negotiations between two nations representing a massive history, living and ancient that must be handled carefully and respectfully to prevent a catastrophic escalation of violence nobody wants taking place in a Burger King.

I have some doubts about how pivotal the US was in the negotiations anyway. The nations involved brought up Turkey and Saudi Arabia as the main facilitators. But, even if the US is involved, I feel like Trump probably doesn't care enough about any of this to really feel the need to fuck it up.

I think mostly it will either be the wreckage of the State Department doing more-or-less good work, or else the US just not being around for it.

I don't disagree with that, but from the perspective of the U.S. I think this metaphor still stands, this is the kind of thing my country loves to brag about being essential for and we are just now more than ever a giant useless turd that some talented, passionate people still manage to use towards good things when the assholes in charge aren't looking...
