Benn Jordan has an excellent video on this where he investigated infrasound and spoke to people impacted by it. Well worth watching.

It's very real. Ruined people's lives and even negatively impacted plants and animals nearby. He also performed an experiment on people at a con with a control group and a group being hit with infrasound to prove out the effects.

It's real. It's very interesting, you should watch it.

Dang, okay. Well, then, good, we have yet another reason against data centers. I just wanted to stay as objective as possible, but will check it out, thanks.

Who knew AI would be what corporate overlords would use after fossil fuels to destroy humanity.

The Wikipedia article on infrasound has one US weapons expert quoted as saying there's no reliable evidence of it causing nausea, yet the original discovery of Infrasound was from a French researcher who's whole team was nauseous and they were able to trace it back to a low frequency motor that was resonating with the building. They published a paper on it in Science in 1968 called "Infrasound" which is literally where the word infrasound comes from.

Which is another way of saying that no one has tested for it. Doesn't mean there is evidence it doesn't work.

"Do not register on decibel meters"

Get a better decibel meter, then?

[–] crimson_iris@piefed.social 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

We went and got the good meter, from the safe. It burned out.

Did you get too close to a 5G tower?

Normal decible meters don't register it because why would you make one that did? Most decibel meters are made specifically to detect threats to your hearing. My understanding is that meters made for this range can detect it though. So at least the presence of the sound should be verifiable. That of course does nothing to prove the other claims.

So regardless of what people believe about the effects, it is a real thing that can be detected. So it is at the very least a form of pollution. All the rest of the claims need not be used to justify saying that the DC needs to be designed not to pollute. That said, current medical science has a ton of gaps. It can't say what levels of this is safe. So it should be treated as potentially dangerous.
They used to have xrays in shoe stores to help you get the right size shoes. They had no idea at the time how much cancer they were causing. We shouldn't make the same type of mistake again.

This is some Chernobyl Geiger counter type shit

[–] tempest@lemmy.ca -4 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Plenty of reasons not to have these that don't sound like 5g is turning the frogs gay or whatever.

I'm see you got hung up on the glib remark at the end and chose to miss the point entirely.

There are tons of reasons to oppose these datacenters that don't rely on 'contested' Science.

So the real question I guess is why you chose to avoid the actual point and support AI datacenters.

But if we can get the Alex Jones crowd on our side, that might include the Epstein administration :P
