Double dogs exist. you serve them vertically in a sub roll. A place near my old house used to do double footlong on a sub roli, mustard, onion, chilli-cheese.
My standard dog is a double dog, especially if I have Costco buns, but just a pack of every day dawgs.

I do this everytime there is a bbq event. A bit of finessing has to be done any way.
This would be the biggest development In the world of hot dogs since the twinkie weiner sandwich.
The real answer is because one hot dog contains 100% of your daily sodium and also it's just so very bad for you in many other ways.
Costco is the only hot dog currently on the market with the correct meat-to-bread ratio, I am prepared to fight to the death
