No one takes Söder seriosly. What he says today, has no predictive value for what he will say tomorrow and he talks a lot.
Let him be recruit No. 1 then.
Why ?
Because he likes to undercut political agreements that he negotiated in the first place.
They agreed on a solution months ago and said to monitor results. Yet here he goes.
What solution ? What problem ?
Germany got rid of conscripting soldiers a while ago. Starting the Ukraine war the government is thinking about how the German army can meet its personnel goals, for fulfilling its obligations.
We still have no conscription but a voluntary service. He tries to overturn that decision or at least profit from the controversy.
In addition, the Bundeswehr currently doesn't have the capacity (personel, infrastructure) to conscript the entire 'fit' part of a year's cohort (of those who wouldn't refuse). Thus, under this condition, mandatory conscription would be even more (still only ~~the~~ male ~~population~~ citizens can be drafted) injust.
It means some kind of war is looming in Europe ?
Well no, it already started.
There can’t be a serious answer to that question.
But Europe is invested in deterrence.
because the military industrial complex deems it so
Why the need arose all of a sudden ?
