Doom on a toaster would have a terrible frame rate.

[–] OpenStars@piefed.social 5 points 4 hours ago
[–] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

[–] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 49 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Doom in Doom, lol. And there's also Minecraft in Minecraft. And Doom runs in Minecraft. Is there a Doom in Doom that runs in Minecraft in Minecraft?

[–] OpenStars@piefed.social 15 points 4 hours ago

Be the change that you want to see in the world... :-P

[–] eodur@piefed.social 3 points 4 hours ago

I didn't realize there was a Doom package for NextCloud. I'm not even sure why I was surprised.

[–] waigl@lemmy.world 18 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

They forgot Rockbox. I still have an old Sansa Clip with Rockbox on it that plays Doom with no problems.

[–] Ephera@lemmy.ml 5 points 4 hours ago

Yeah, I have also played it on there. Just to give others an idea, we're talking an MP3 player from 2007, that looks like this:

Here's an article showing the successor model running Doom: https://hackaday.com/2016/12/30/sansa-mp3-player-runs-doom-unplayably/

[–] url@feddit.fr 7 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Where the hack is Doom over DNS and E-coli bacteria

[–] drcobaltjedi@programming.dev 3 points 6 hours ago

E-coli appears to be on the bottom left

[–] Fives@discuss.online 11 points 8 hours ago (3 children)

Doom is gonna become its own OS.

[–] bl4ckp1xx13@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 7 hours ago

Surely someone has made bootable DOOM right?

[–] Meron35@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago

Doom is Turing complete FYI, so if it wasn't for the inherent limitations on the number of gates due to small map size Doom would be able to run Doom

But can DOOM run it? - https://calabi-yau.space/blog/doom.html

[–] SaltyIceteaMaker@lemmy.ml 8 points 8 hours ago

pretty fitting i think

[–] kivihiili@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 6 hours ago
