Leopards Ate My Face
Rules:
- The mods are fallible; if you've been banned or had a post/comment removed, please appeal.
- Off-topic posts will be removed. If you don't know what "Leopards ate my Face" is, try reading this post.
- If the reason your post meets Rule 1 isn't in the source, you must add a source in the post body (not the comments) to explain this. If the reason is in the source but is tedious to find (e.g. in a lengthy video), you must add an explanation for where it is.
- Posts should use high-quality sources (for a rough idea, check out this list), and posts should retain the title (if one exists) from works like news articles, videos, etc. You may (but need not) edit your post if the source changes the title. (If you're only using an excerpt from an article that's otherwise not about LAMF, you can use the quote in the title.) Other types of posts should have a title which accurately, relatively neutrally describes their contents.
- For accessibility reasons, an image of text must either have alt text or a transcription in the post body.
- Reposts within 1 year or the Top 100 of all time are subject to removal. Within moderator discretion, this doesn't just include reposts of the exact same media but also includes e.g. a secondary source telling basically the exact same story as another that was already posted.
- This is not exclusively a US politics community. You're encouraged to post stories about anyone from any place in the world at any point in history as long as you meet the other rules.
- All Lemmy.World Terms of Service apply.

But they're not investing in Trump crypto... This is literally a way to pay Trump. It's foreign governments and influential families that need favors from him. It's not poor investors losing their savings, it's rich assholes and governments giving trump money out in the open.
It's not poor investors losing their savings
It's both. Trump has actively encouraged buy-in and credibly been accused of having first let key investors in on the ground floor, so the value skyrockets when it's announced, the insiders sell at substantial profit, and the MAGA marks see the bottom fall out of their "investment" shortly afterwards.
I'm not sympathetic with the victims, but it's still predatory.
I was going to make a joke about misspelling "patsy" as investor, but damn you're right.
I'm not even USian and even I know anything Trump puts his name on, is basically shite. The level of propaganda being swallowed by USians is just absurd.
Have you ever seen Fox News? It's on TVs in public fucking everywhere. I miss having an IR blaster in my phone, and I'm certain the phone companies took them away because of people like me that would turn off the TV repeatedly rather than listen to that shit.
makes sense when you consider that greed, "fuck you got mine", and celebrity worship are core tenets of American culture
I'm sure there are some dopes who buy his crap at face value, but anyone spending real money on it knows it for what it is: bribe money
See, conservatives do believe in redistribution of wealth.
If the name Trump is attached to anything it just tells me not to touch it. It's like a biohazard sign.
Man steals £2.3 billion, victims lose £2.3 billion.
It's a strange way to write a subheadline. I thought they were all about removing redundant wording?
I mean technically he didn't even steal anything.
Tell me that you haven't been paying any attention for the last decade, without telling me that you haven't been paying any attention for the last decade.
If Trump was putting his name behind it, Elrgdawy recalls thinking, “it must be a legitimate investment.”
Nailed it.
Whomp whomp
At least the leopards are eating each other this time.
