The US is behind in this tech because we didn't think we needed it. I wonder what changed the Pentagon's mind? Perhaps they've been impressed by what Russia has done in Ukraine.

This is not a victory. America can only be defeated by sending home body bags, not bills.

Do they really think they can exhaust our will to spend money on weapons?

Your comment is so important because billions of people around the world are starting to think of Xi as the leader of a more stable, more rational, more equitable global order.

Xi couldn't have purchased this any treasury or captured it with any army.

This is worse for Boeing than first appears. Should the trade war last, China will likely cannibalize their existing American inventory rather than purchase replacement parts.

That means Boeing is loosing money on aircraft it sold before the tariffs, and that every day this goes on, China will be less and less reliant on the American aircraft industry.

$28B is not going to be a big enough bailout this time. Guess what happens when all these farmers start trying to offload their pork, soybeans, and sorghum into the US market?

So they're taking a shitty tech trend away from the few people who found it useful in order to push the new shitty tech trend.

This is bad history.

Please explain what Chamberlain was supposed to have done differently. Explain how he was supposed to protect Czechoslovakia with zero military presence and zero contact with any resistance. Explain why Churchill's plan to protect Poland was identical to Chamberlain's plan to protect Czechoslovakia. (thoughts and prayers)

No, the "Chamberlain could have stopped Hitler if only...." meme is reactionary missive against diplomacy. It makes perfect sense, if you don't think about it.

Who wants to bet that the idea of retaliatory tariffs wasn't gamed out beforehand and they have no strategy?

It seems like if you want a trade war with China, you'd want partners to help you apply pressure and replace Chinese goods you can't do without. Maybe somewhere like Vietnam for cheap labor; Canada for rare-earth minerals; and the EU to buy expensive American goods and services. Oh no.

after contact, the company acknowledged the problem and removed the accounts

We demonstrate a situation in which Large Language Models, trained to be helpful, harmless, and honest, can display misaligned behavior and strategically deceive their users about this behavior without being instructed to do so. Concretely, we deploy GPT-4 as an agent in a realistic, simulated environment, where it assumes the role of an autonomous stock trading agent. Within this environment, the model obtains an insider tip about a lucrative stock trade and acts upon it despite knowing that insider trading is disapproved of by company management. When reporting to its manager, the model consistently hides the genuine reasons behind its trading decision.
