Pubic hair is a design feature, it prevents micro-cuts and abrasions and stops abrasions coming in skin to skin contact. Our bodies have pubic hair to prevent direct contact/transmission of blood and fluids. It's not a mistake.

...shaving it off makes sex less safe. It's literally part of sexual health to have some.

Not only less safe, but less comfortable as well! Stubble rubbing against stubble in that area isn't fun.
