A lot of the time, I start work on a project just to get it out of my brain. My brain starts hyperfocusing on the next "cool idea" and it stops me sleeping and concentrating on other things. So what I do is I start a new project folder and write down my thoughts on the project until I run out of ideas. Then my brain is "satisfied" with "work" and promptly loses interest. I have learned to not feel guilt about these. It's just a thing I need to do for my mental health, like I have to sometimes clear out my ear wax.

Every project I start has the very real potential to become a work in progress forever just based on my perfectionism. It definitely burnt me out to the point where I haven't started anything in a long time that doesn't have someone else waiting on it, then I gauge how finished it is by my work in progress reactions
Dammit, I used to do this and got out of the habit. Thank you for reminding me!
