We know that there are Europeans in the Trump/Epstein files, so why doesn't Europol ask for every single file in full to check for possible violations and then prosecute the guilty?

Have they asked and got denied? Haven't they asked? What's going on? I'm not seeing anything in the news about any Epstein-related arrests.

Because the files damn leaders political and industry on a global level. It's not just American ones and Trump. Lots of money from lots of different pockets are shielding them. We have war and reflecting pools to talk about anyway, forget about that pesky global elite pedophile ring /s. Should it happen, yes, will it happen, no.

aka "The Epstein Class"

The Israeli papers to give them their official title. they damn most of the most powerful and influential people in the world. Given that it's easier for them to collude and say nothing, that's what they'll do.

this, alot of people besides the rich ones, like UNIVERSITY professors, and beloved celebrities turned perverts. you can kinda estimate which ones are likely on the files, based on them turning to the RIGHT suddenly.

Europol doesn't do things like that, they're not some kind of police that can conduct investigations. Wikipedia has a summary of what they actually do, in case you'd like to know:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Europol

[–] Seimhe@lemmy.world 29 points 2 days ago

The Agency has no executive powers, and its officials are not entitled to arrest suspects, conduct independent investigations, or act without prior approval from competent authorities in the member states.

You weren’t exaggerating.

[–] Arras@nord.pub 0 points 2 days ago

Yes, but... I mean, they're like the umbrella organization of all EU police, coordinating to combat serious crime, so why can't they arrange to get all the files and then distribute them to member states police to do the actual arrests?

You think Europe is any less corrupt?

[–] Summzashi@lemmy.world 4 points 20 hours ago (1 children)
[–] Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

But not less enough to prosecute them.

[–] Summzashi@lemmy.world 1 points 19 hours ago
[–] rammer@sopuli.xyz 37 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yes I do.

There's plenty of corruption in Europe all right. BUT. Nowhere near the level of the US.

I don't think most Americans realize just how fucked up America is, on every level, in every industry. American Exceptionalism is insane.

As a Canadian, it irritates me that my country is so influenced by American culture that people in Canada conflate things happening in the Untied States with how things are in Canada. Not saying Canada is perfect but can we not conflate our problems with another country's problems?

My aunt is one of those conspiracy nuts who rant about the healthcare system being designed solely to make money off patients. I don't think it occurs to her that we have universal healthcare

[–] papalonian@lemmy.world 1 points 19 hours ago

Tbf, a country with universal healthcare (and a corrupt government) is the perfect target for a predatory healthcare industry; doesn't matter to them if the money they get is directly from the patients, or if it comes from the government.

Some guy named ~~Prince~~ Andrew got arrested

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 5 points 2 days ago

currently 3 countries have it, russia, israel, and the us govt. THE dnc/GOP all have acces to it, but they wont unveil any more details, because it likely hurts thier POCKETS if the donor names are mentioned.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca -1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Remember that scene in The Handmaid's Tale where Fred and Serena are lured out of Gilead and then arrested? Why don't we do that to Trump?

[–] Summzashi@lemmy.world 2 points 20 hours ago

This cannot be a serious question

[–] Darkassassin07@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

They probably asked and got back a photocopy of a middle finger.
