I quit at 50, living on savings and stock market...

I dont know, its just something awful about working every day. I got sick of it.

Now im not doing anything special but im free to just live.

Its just hype. Current models cant lead to AGI, but its a stepping stone. I for one is happy as long as we dont have it, because it will lead to dystopia very quick.

Seems minor. If they wanted people to pay for it, they would block games since thats what most young people use windows for....

Yes but capitalism = profits is all that matters.

Also since big tech has more money than almost anything, they become illegal unofficial kings in a world where money is all that matters. They influence entire elections and what information is able to be shared.

Yeah. I havent used windows in a long time but when I was, you could play games without any license... What is locked?

Actually these days, windows is free because what Microsoft wants is your user data. And unless you stop that from being sent to Microsoft, you are generating profit for them every time you use your computer.

Its actually brilliant. Every day when people turn on their computer or phone, Microsoft and Google makes billions from their time. By doing nothing. Passive income.

The thing is, its not going to fall apart forever (unfortunately). Billions are invested by all big tech companies into enormous server farms just for AI and their entire future stock value is now based on them coming up with a way to make a profit from this.

Replacing humans can lead to a lot of profit since salaries are one of the most expensive things in a company.

So I dont know. I think the future will suck. But what else is new.

Yeah I agree. We have to wake up a bit. Real change happens outside of this place.

We arent smarter. Actually most people here have no voice or influence outside of their computer screen.

We can use some tech, sure. But I very much challenge the idea that we are smarter as a group than other university students.

But since a lot of us have poor social skills, we compensate by thinking we are smarter or better, when we should instead train our social skills and stop thinking like that.
