Some non-English(with subs) anime and series' seem to be freely and officially available on youtube and other websites.
Pretty cool.

Noticed that when searching for To Be Hero X

I think voting is useful tho

If there are decent options, votes can show support for it, regardless of a win or loss. The results would signal that there is decent support on it or became a part of awareness on issues or points.

Not dismissing other parts on direct action and the fact that there is no right to recall in elections(Not USAmerican or EU-ian. Do you have right to recall?)

*imperialism

Most rebellions against western attacks seem not to be for socialism or against capitalism.

But, the imperialism is due to capitalism and seems like a natural extension, so in a way, yes too

I think most people are indeed agreeing that Venezuela is facing financial hardship, but not because of Maduro, but mainly due to the sanctions by western govts.

Venezuela is a small country and the US is a large and influential one. So such sanctions are going to hurt Venezuela.

Can I ask a question to get the idea across?
We have heard news that Palestinians have faced food shortages and there was even famine warning.

Do you see it as a failure of their leadership or that of Israel blocking food and aid to the place, while isolating and attacking them?

If it is the latter, then wouldn't Venezuela be in the same position but relatively more favorable?
I think that is the view that many in the thread have.

Wasn't a US-backed military coup against Chavez attempted in the early period? It was defeated by the people and soldiers who were loyal to Chavez, but that might've had an rffect

Are you Venezuelan?

What happens when the US and allies forments coups and starts bombing you?

Obviously, peaceful means are preferred by most people.
Like, why would they allow you to take power peacefully?

Imagine you take power and want to redistribute land to the common people who were exploited and forced to be landless or without proper homes in the previous regime? Would not the ultrawealthy landowners try to coup you and get support of US and other countries?

Then you'll have to go there, right?
Or you'll have to stop or allow yourself to be couped.

Like, in Russia, they took power away from a monarchy and came into power with the slogans of 'Land, peace and bread:. They faced an attack by the White army, which was supported by major foreign powers.

In China, they took power away from Japanese colonialism and subsequent mix of Koumingtang rule which violently opposed communists and the public who wanted land reform.

In Vietnam, they fought French colonialism and US invasion.

Similarly, in Korea, US installed a dictatorship to kill people who may have been even slightly sympathetic to socialism.

Even in the case of slavery in US, the North, under the Lincoln govt, had to fight the south, right? Republicans were attacked in the south by Racial supremacist groups on that toom

[–] Achyu@lemmy.sdf.org 12 points 3 weeks ago

Compared to the Western govts? Much more likely

Is USAmerica(worlds largest superpower) a successful capitalist country?
Is slavery and Eps stuff a success?
Success would need to be defined then, right?

And your notions on everyone having to be perfect seems to be wrong. The main basis of Communism is who owns the means of production and the level of development. The minority of the ultrawealthy in capitalism vs the majority of the regular people in communism.
Also, capitalist planning that focuses on profit and externalises social cost vs general planning that thinks about the 'externalised stuff'.

And if you want to go deeper into critiques of capitalism and why we need to plan beyond that, I think looking up aspects like the crisis of overproduction and the tendency of the falling rate of profit might be good.
Others here maybe better able to explain more on that.

Hypocritical, yes, but different from directly voting in favor, although effect is similar.

They abstained from the vote
So the last panel of them joining in would be incorrect, right?

I've tried Whisper and Sayboard. Both are very cool for speech to text.

One issue is that I can't share pre-existing audio files into them to get the text.
Are there any foss apps that have that feature?

I've noticed Notely's feature of recording audio and transcription, which is very nice. The notes are not saved in the accessible storage, but the app's private storage. So, I currently have to export the audio and text. It also doesn't support importing audio recorded using a regular recording app.

So, is there any FOSS app that has the feature of being able to create trasncripts for pre-existing audio files? Or is too specific and would it be better to look into Termux?

I learnt about markdown from reddit and got to know more suff like ![img]() after joining Lemmy. Found Markor from a thread here or there.
Recently learnt about some features:

And a cool thing is that it supports rendering .html files(considering how Firefox doesn't show up in the list of apps capable of opening them). Was trying out Javascript bookmarklets and created an html file(with the js code in it) to make edits and try out stuff.

Making this post so that others can know of these features. I had Markor installed for more than a year, before I recently read their news.md and noticed these features.

Do you know of any other features or apps that'd be useful for more people to know of?

Got to know of them recently. They seem very cool.
Like, I don't have to install anything extra.

I especially like this one that shows Id links. Useful while sharing wikipedia links:

And

This one which helps to use text fragments:

Discliamer: Be careful with copy-pasting bookmarklets into your browser. Only do so if you trust it.

Which all bookmarklets do you use, find useful?
Please share them.

Are there similar easy things that most people sort of easily have access to? I think Libreoffice's/Excel's record macro function would be useful for people too.

Are there any communities for similar things, sort-of like beginner automation?

Thanks in advance.

It is currently summer in India.

Are there any behavioural or infra modifications that would help handle the increased heat?
I have read about how white roofs would reduce heat absorption and energy needed for cooling
Are there other things like that? Especially ones that regular people can try? The other type(policy decision type) are ok too tho. Would be good to know them.

Also, are there any communities that would have discussions on such topics? Like a TIL or DIY community where people talked about general issues and solutions.
Is it this community?
