We need to keep educating people about it, and I found a really good method - explain it to them using the Chinese Room thought experiment.

In short: imagine you're in a room with a manual and infinite writing utensils, but nothing else. Every now and again a piece of paper with some Chinese characters is slipped through a slit in the wall. Your task is to get that paper, and - using the provided manual - paint other Chinese characters on another piece of paper. Basically, "if you see X character, then paint Y character". Once you're done, you slip your paper through the slit to the other side. This goes on back and forth.

To the person on the other side of the wall, it seems like they're having conversation with someone fluent in Chinese, whereas you're just painting shapes based on provided instructions.

I found that this kind of opens people's minds to what LLMs actually do - which is writing words that have the highest probability of following previous words and the context of the prompt...

Hey, OP, why did you write that this GPU is "the first (...) to rival the Nvidia RTX 4060 in raw performance"?

It appears to fall short of its marketing promises, though. An alleged Geekbench OpenCL listing revealed the G100 achieving a score of only 15,524, a performance tier that effectively ties it with the GeForce GTX 660 Ti, a card released in 2012

It's nowhere near that, as tests show.

The fact that so many people don't understand this is nuts to me. There's the military gear support for Ukraine case, the Greenland case, the tariffs case, the AI tech case, all the IT services case - all of that crap that Trump, sufficiently annoyed, can just take away from the EU. It's clear that Congress is no longer functional and US slid into dictatorship, so there's nobody who could stop him. Which means that, when we see him illegally invading a sovereign country, we say "it's complicated".

Tesla, at least, did something on their own. Trump phone, however, if it ever gets released, will be just a drop-shipped Huawei.

Corrected title:

The "Trump phone" just "missed" another "release date"

We all know it's just a grift, right?
