Trump also outlined a White House renovation he hopes to carry out — which he said he will pay for himself.

Makes sense as he more than likely doesn't plan on leaving...

I do suspect there’s a pretty decent sized chunk who bought into that “Republicans are good for the economy” line of bullshit DECADES ago and have just spent the intervening time hell bent on not giving anything political even the tiniest iota of thought.

"I've been a conservative because I believe the Regan trickle down economics works."

My old coworker. I literally said "my guy we've had fifty goddamn years to show that is complete bullshit. How many more decades do we need to try it for you to realize it doesn't work?"

As you said, he just spent 0 time thinking about it.

But to be honest, it does work for him in a way... His parents were wealthy and so he has lived his life as a janitor and a doorman and will still be able to retire into a nice house with a ton of inheritance money...

The average American worker needs to work 2.8 jobs to afford rent in most major cities, according to the National Low Income Housing Coalition.

Not even a "normal" fulfilling life and it requires 2 incomes. No house, no family, no savings, definitely not on a single income. I'm rapidly approaching 40 and have been single for a decade now so a happy relationship and 2 incomes in my life is about as likely to be a thing as unicorns are. Then COVID comes around, kills millions and destroyed the housing market so I've completely gave up on the idea that I'll ever own a home.

"Retirement" for me is a shotgun sandwich deep in the woods somewhere I won't be found.

Ahh the American dream.

Literally fucking abused it to keep himself out of trouble just to get elected and say "I don't know. If it's for me sure, but for some Mexican? Nah."

Between this and Canada I'm feeling a bit better about propaganda affecting the world at large as it has in America. The global push to the right is still troubling but at least everyone else seems to have their heads on right.

I think American exceptionalism is true in one facet, we're exceptionally hateful and ignorant. We're easy to manipulate. I'm glad that's not as true everywhere else.

Ahhh that would make sense then as I always used whole milk. I'll take your word for it, I don't need to taste that! lol

Also, many news outlets seem to be still keeping the “both sides” perspective on these outrageous acts, as the Overton Window keeps moving right using neutral language for bizarre power grabs.

Sort of like the article with the headline "us preparing for unilateral military action against cartels in Mexico"

I'm sorry, did you mean: "US is planning to invade Mexico."

It never went away for me, I just make it myself!

I'll have like 1/4 glass of milk and add chocolate syrup then as I mix that I add seltzer and if stirring correctly it won't fizz up. I know people say adding the acidity of seltzer spoils the milk, but I've never noticed it when I make it.

Pineapple is a legitimate pizza topping lol

This is what has me so depressed. This is a forever thing. They lost there for now, but they're just going to get better at their manipulation as "they" have globally. Reich wing asshole billionaires have been solidifying control of all major media. It's only a matter of time when fascism runs most major countries. :(

"Marisa. Sounds Mexican, she deserves it probably."

In the most literal sense we have representation, but it sure as hell doesn't seem like it in practice... :(
