the Trump administration has shown signs of enthusiasm for a pronatalist agenda. DOGE head Elon Musk, a father of 14, posts regularly on social media about the need for Americans to have more babies; he has also promoted NatalCon on X. Vice President JD Vance has proposed the idea of a weighted voting system, in which the votes cast by parents would be valued more highly than those by the childless. US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy (a father of nine) signed a memo recommending that his department prioritize “communities with marriage and birth rates higher than the national average.”

Got to provide a continuous supply of children for the labour camps.

There's already talk-to-your-dog/cat products such as FluentPet. Probably the biggest issue with cats in particular is that their "vocabulary" is quite limited (usually less than a dozen distinct "meows"), but some of the FluentPet users (examples on Youtube such as BilliSpeaks) seem to suggest basic reasoning. A full-blown language is beyond them, but they do seem capable of understanding more concepts than we give them credit for.

The ultimate goal is to speak dolphin, if indeed there is such a language. The pursuit of this goal has led WDP to create a massive, meticulously labeled data set, which Google says is perfect for analysis with generative AI.

So they're aiming for a real-life version of SeaQuest DSV? Considering Season 1 was set in 2018-2019, we're 7 years behind schedule so far...

One can only conclude that either this is the latest step in a deliberate effort to sabotage the functioning of the US (and by extension much of the west), or just another monumentally stupid idea brought to life by their limitless incompetence.

I was looking at some party policies yesterday and it does not surprise me one iota that these were the ones linking to the Noticer:

• Libertarians
• One Nation
• Family First

Trumpet of Patriots and The Libertarian parties in particular should never be allowed anywhere near the halls of power. They are clearly echoing Trump and Musk with their policies, which will gut the government, cut regulation, gut worker's rights, and ensure corporate big business grows richer whilst destroying our environment, economy and health.

The irony is that, according to the article, it already does. What is changing is that the LLM will be able to use more of that data:

OpenAI is rolling out a new update to ChatGPT's memory that allows the bot to access the contents of all of your previous chats. The idea is that by pulling from your past conversations, ChatGPT will be able to offer more relevant results to your questions, queries, and overall discussions.

ChatGPT's memory feature is a little over a year old at this point, but its function has been much more limited than the update OpenAI is rolling out today... Previously, the bot stored those data points in a bank of "saved memories." You could access this memory bank at any time and see what the bot had stored based on your conversations.... However, it wasn't perfect, and couldn't naturally pull from past conversations, as a feature like "memory" might imply.

I really hope so too, but it worries me.

The LNP don't seem to actually have any plans for anything. They seem to put out ideas either as political distractions (such as nuclear power) or to test the waters, but they're really not providing any substance for anything.

Part of me just wants it over. My inner pessimist worries that the LNP will get in (either majority or minority) and wreck a whole lot of things. My inner optimist says that enough Australians see through the LNP's BS to at least give us a Labor minority government.

I think they're drawing the distinction between small outbreaks - when the disease has to be reintroduced each time - and it becoming endemic (e.g. present in the community for more than 12 months).

Ugh. I really hope my fellow Aussies don't vote this guy in. He's increasingly copying Trump.

Good to see we're pivoting away from US contracts. Too unreliable with Trump and Musk at the helm.
