Meanwhile the other group on the Left, who are impotent pacifists think that politely protesting and finger waggling will earn respect by the heavily armed and aggressive right-wingers for change to occur in their lifetime.

Sell your dogshit AK made by dipshit Russians, and buy a rifle that your local country makes (which may be ironically an AK variant if you live near an Eastern European country).

AKs are restricted, and their ammo is prohibitively more expensive due to laws sanctioning Russia for their Ukraine invasion by their dipshit government.

Buy ARs and support US manufacturers instead and enjoy all better, more ergonomic platform.
