I don't know anything about this beyond what's written in the post, but it sounds like if a podcast episode on YouTube has been properly sporsorblocked, then it should skip ad reads as well (keep in mind that sponsorblock is crowd-sourced, it doesn't automatically work it's magic)

Dedicated GPUs are obviously going to be more powerful. I've never run ai before so maybe someone else can weigh in on the requirements for it, but I can say for sure that an igpu is good enough for jellyfin transcoding. It also depends on your budget, do you want to spend the extra money just for a dedicated GPU?

If you go igpu route I think that Intel is recommended over AMD, but you should probably do extra research on that before buying

I don't know what kind of server you're running, but if you plan to host any video then you want a dedicated GPU or a cpu with integrated graphics (and even if you're not, I think it's a good idea anyway), which the 5600x doesn't.

I also think it's overboard to get $90 watercooling. Just get an air cooler for half or a third of the price

Grapheneos doesn't require root before install or allow root after install

I don't disqualify any of these things from being ai, my point is that if someone hears the word ai without any other context, they're probably going to think of an llm

Society collectively when, whenever a person or company talks about AI, they're talking about chatgpt, Gemini, deepseek, ollama, or whatever other LLM you want to substitute it for

One thing that I haven't seen anyone mention yet, in this post or the last one, how to you plan on aquiring videos for your server? If you plan on torrenting, you just have to pay for a vpn, Proton doesn't allow you to make p2p connections like that on a free account

[–] DesolateMood@lemm.ee 9 points 8 months ago (3 children)

OPs problem is that proton blocks Lan connections when connected and require you to pay them if you want to unblock it

Idk if proton allows you to download config files on a free account but if they do then you could use those to manually split tunnel your local internet

Edit: if they don't then the "most secure" (and cheapest) option is to pay for a VPN that allows Lan connections

I don't plan to access it anywhere but home

Okay so what's all this faffing about for? Just don't open it up to the internet and access it with your servers local ip address on your home network
