We have multiple store fronts, some are DRM free, some come with free compatability tools, we can install games free of a store, back data up to a hard drive and play that same game on a different PC all offline, we could burn our entire library to SD cards or CDs and produce our own physical media, we can use a million combinations of hardware and operating systems, etc.
Locking out discs also hurts game stores and gives consumers worse value for money since they can't trade in games. Super shitty when there is only one digital storefront
