Australia has no energy independence, and the further down the “renewables” rabbit hole we go the less energy independence we have because we don’t and can’t make any of the “renewables” equipment here. We’re intentionally getting more and more reliant on China, and for some reason no one seems to care.

We’re looking to sell and buy a new place atm, and high on the list is dual living as I’m under no illusion that my kids will ever be able to afford to buy their own house without our help. Happy for them to stay with us as long as they can to be in the best financial situation they can. Will be looking to try and transfer our places into their names as early as possible too, so we aren’t forced to sell them to access assisted living etc when it’s time.
I’ve got about 15km left to empty according to my dash 😭. Not looking forward to the petrol station stop tomorrow morning, but at least my car is economical on fuel - I get about 800km to a 40L tank of diesel.
At the moment no one can afford a house because of 50%+ inflation since the last crisis. The poorest are the ones who have felt this the most. We NEED a recession, realistically one where prices of everything halve to get back to where they should be.
Would it be terrible for a lot of people? Absolutely - but the alternative is absolutely destroying the economy and affordability already.

What we call “renewables” currently is not the future because it’s all contingent on having non-renewables to make the “renewables”. We need to somehow invent batteries and solar panels that can be made using nothing non-renewable, but we’re not even close.
There’s more astroturfing for renewables than against it.

There is no known replacement for oil. None. It’s in basically everything the world runs on and uses. We need to be producing our own until a replacement is found.

AI can already create cgi that’s better than most Hollywood slop. AI created movies are an inevitability, and they’re going to revolutionise the industry in a great way for everyone apart from Hollywood.
