lol

Luigi was successful. Temporarily.

One might argue the "temporary" could be fixed by increasing the magnitude of the solution...

Oh I enjoy a good BBQ, but the sheer emphasis many put on them is... really weird.

I think many who would downvote me conflate the social aspects with the "BBQ" part. Just throw a damn party! I don't care what you cook but the point is it doesn't NEED to include one of the most wasteful and silly forms of cooking.

Again, not bashing BBQ as an actual cooking practice: A BBQ house restaurant is a beautiful thing if they're not fucking it up. Though that doesn't mean every John Doe needs a BBQ in their back yard for a party! It's about how weirdly popular they are in the US.

Not about how viable or tasty they are.

The correct answer to someone who will not stop violence is to violently end them.

No, it's not pretty. No, it's not comfortable. No, it's not easy to do so while retaining the optics of the moral high ground. Yet that is the only answer that actually works.

Naww I actually fully agree with the idea that it could (and should) work in an ideal world. Just that such a plan would still definitely come with some intrinsic cost/effort, even beyond keeping the shed a viable shed.

Also, people DO have access to chainsaws, so if you're afraid of loons getting chainsaws... you might just be a bigger coward than you are smart...

Yes, because idiots allowed vile malicious non-idiots to gain control of their "news" media and stock markets, so OFC that went down hill fast.

Again: It's all about preventing and removing idiots from power, not about trying to control the masses of idiots.

You control the up-stream. Fighting down-stream is just begging to be pissed on.

Like I said: humanity needs to learn to not give such people power and to remove power from such people, too.

Idiots exist with or without knowledge. What the world needs to learn is to not put idiots into positions of power, and to remove the ones that found their way into power.

Yea, and superman should be smart enough to understand that. They touch on it plenty of times in various stories. Of course the quality varies based on the writers' understanding of self-determination, but it is a topic well addressed by Superman.

[–] LurkingLuddite@piefed.social 3 points 2 months ago

Oh but you do have to with Superman. That's the entire point of his character and when stories about him shine; when they're about pressing morals and not so much a big baddy to fight. He can do about anything he wants, so it kinda' requires him to be pressed in other ways. Stories that only put him in cliche fights or just have him morally grandstanding are the worst. He is idealized, and that needs to be reconciled with a world that has a lot of grey in it.

The recent superman movie did a decent job of it, the one with Krypto.

It's not revenge to remove evil from the world. What kind of petty projection do you practice?

[–] LurkingLuddite@piefed.social 5 points 2 months ago (2 children)

You're right for history, although it's pretty obvious superman wouldn't be OK with twisting words like that.

Eh. Lane splitting can legitimately reduce congestion and improve safety, at least when drivers are aware of their surroundings... which yes I know, for some is apparently a high bar.
