Coulld be worse. My old cat would do this too, but if you didn't react, she would start to chew on your hair right next to your ear to wake you with the horrible crunching sound.

I have only one tip: use quality paint and rollers. Here in Europe we have Sigma and Sikkens. I don't know what they have where you are from. But get the expensive stuff from a professional paint store. Don't go to the DIY store. Even the expensive brandcstuff from most DIY stores is crap compared to professional stuff. It will be a lot more expensive but the good stuff is soooo much easier to work with. You will paint much faster, it will look much better and you need less layers.

I painted my entire house with Sikkens Alpha Rezisto. It's washable, which is great since I gave pets and kids.

The main thing I miss from reddit is communities for specific games. It was nice that, whenever I started playing some game, there would be a subreddit for it where I could get advise and see what other people were doing with the game. There are very few on Lemmy. It's just too snall for that.

Sure. That's why I have my Reolink doorbell hooked up to Frigate NVR running on my home server. And frigate is hooked up to my home assistant. But that's the thorough and secure solution, not the quick and easy solution that the grandparent poster was asking for.

Just buy a Reolink Doorbell. Pop in an SD card. Put in on your wifi or LAN and access it with your browser. You're done. It's all local. There's an optional app that does need an external server, but that's optional and there is no subscription.
