IMO, you can't experience union with God until you are in union with yourself. Jesus said a house divided can not stand. Maybe don't look for answers/validation outside, because those aren't the opinions with which you sleep, do your work. When you come into union with self, you'll realistically sort what you can change and what you can't. What are you willing to sacrifice to unite yourself with your Self (ideal)? If it's easy, it's not a sacrifice.
For me, going through that process brought me into union with God, what that idea means to me. And what that means to me may not be what that means to you. That's something to explore as you sit with yourself, good, bad, ugly, indifferent.
The Constitution is dead, it's time for a new and improved one.
