Unfortunately, it's not entirely up to Trump. Iran isn't going to back down just because Trump is all* "Oh, jk, lol!" *
160 Iranian schoolgirls were killed by an American missile strike. Trump is still in denial. How do you suppose that sits with the Iranian people?
For what? How could they possibly know that it was a school? They aren't privy to the intel. They are on a boat or a base, maybe hundreds of miles away. They receive an order to fire on a location and follow the order.
That's exactly what they signed up for. Grunt work. Following orders.
The guy with his finger on the trigger wasn't told a goddamn thing. Conversation went like this:
"Fire on these coordinates."
"Yessir."
Because soldiers follow orders.
How would that soldier know that the school was filled with children? He's sitting 100 miles away, on a boat. His commanding officer gives him a set of coordinates to fire upon. The soldier follows orders, because that's his only job.
I should not have used the phrase "everyone's narratives". I was referring more to tribalism.
So, for example, when we start analyzing the US-Iran hostilities, we can't trust any narrative that comes out of either the US or Iran. Recently, a school was hit by a US missile and children died, it tugged my heartstrings. I felt outrage. But then someone pointed out that the report of dead children could be a psy-op by Iran. Ok, fair point. Time to withhold judgement and check other sources for more information. In this case, it seems that the report was tragically genuine.
Alas, I fear the US might be too far gone for ranked choice to have an effect.
The problem is quality of candidates. Since Citizen's United opened the door for unlimited corporate money in elections, literally 90% of candidates are on someone's payroll. "Grassroots" is a thing of the past. Mass media and name recognition are everything.
Absolutely!
Ummm....how though?
Where are progressives on that scale? Oh, and do fascists, I definitely want to know how a fascist stacks up against a liberal!
This is kind of an insane take.
Women have always been vulnerable. Women are easy targets because they are, on average, physically weaker than males.
Women get raped and sexually assaulted at rates far beyond men. 50% of women will suffer a sexual assault of some kind in their life. Just 3% of men report a sexual assault.
I don’t trust people to do this anymore.
What do you mean "anymore"? My whole point is that everything you are seeing is normal. The misdirection, the fake news, the corruption. It's always been there. The difference today is that information travels much, much faster than it used to.
The future comes down to one thing - management.
