I disagree with the notion that letting users make their own decisions regarding where to install apps from is a vulnerability. That's how computers have always and are supposed to work. It's like saying banking apps are a vulnerability because people can transfer money to scammers through them.

Just speculating here, but I think the economic situation becoming much more difficult for many people might be a factor. When it's hard finding a decent job even after studying something "good", spending years of your life and possibly lots of money on a degree with no immediate economic benefits might seem like quite a ridiculous luxury.

Political division, erosion of democracy and the continuous movement towards fascism.

One would hope so. But if there's one thing far-right politicians do really well, it's surviving political scandals.

Good, but with a process this long, I imagine he's had more than enough time to hide/destroy any relevant evidence.

It is tiring and frustrating to know that it'll more than likely be back. At this point, we need a law that makes sure that this kind of surveillance is never legal. But the hurdles for that are unfortunately way higher than just getting a blocking minority.

Generally yes, there's always a lot of opposition to these kind of proposals in Germany. But the biggest party in power right now is known for its many attempts to massively increase surveillance.

Actively not supporting it, at least in its current iteration.

That's the original meaning of a blog. I guess platforms like Tumblr and Wordpress would qualify and can still be used for that. But the way they're actually used by most users has shifted quite a bit from their original intention. On the fediverse, something like friendica or even mastodon could work.

No, they have the same form factor but they do have improved read speeds over Switch 1 cards. They're not as fast as the internal memory or MicroSD express cards though. In Mario Kart, the card takes about 20% longer to load.

You can’t sell GKC after downloading of the game, as far as I understand the system.

Then you don't understand it correctly. GKCs aren't locked to an account. When you're finished with the game you can sell it to someone else and they can download and play the game just fine (as long as the Switch 2 servers are still running). You won't be able to play it anymore after you've sold the card though, as it needs to be inserted to start the game. Source

For the kinds of gene therapy we currently have, it wouldn't make that much of a difference for society, but could have a positive effect for people affected by conditions that can be treated with it. Although as I understand it, those treatments are far from perfect and do frequently have adverse effects as well.

If we're talking the sci-fi kind of gene therapy that could stop aging, make people more intelligent etc, that would be an entirely different story. It would have massive societal ramifications and I think especially under capitalism, they wouldn't be good. It would increase inequality by massive amounts and basically turn the rich elites into their own, genetically-superior species.
