Yeah, I have nothing but applause for people like this. The hardest part of leaving a cult is being ostracized by your former peers and the mockery from the outside, leaving you with no social circle, which human beings are hard wired to avoid at nearly any cost.

I don't understand the entire first half of your comment. The only explanation I have for how well received it was would have to be the last two sentences which resonated with people.
Good to hear. Far too many people are sitting on ass, trying to fool themselves or others they'd do different in our shoes, or worse, pretending they're helping.
As history shows us, sometimes societies headed towards collapse or despotism are simply incapable of stopping themselves for one reason or another. Those societies often end up negatively impacting their neighbors and the problems are then thrust onto their doorstep where they face the same dilemmas they pretended to be capable of decisively solving just a little while prior.
