I recently took over as webmaster for a small local charity, basic website, some backend things to sort, no big deal.

But they're on a .net and I asked why? A previous webmaster let their domain lapse 10 FUCKING YEARS AGO, and one of those squatters grabbed it and has been holding it ever since. They wanted like $10k to give it back so these people just made a .net

It's fucking ridiculous. I set a timer to try and grab it next time it expires, but I'm assuming they have their renewals automated.

Dry? He's ground up the taxidermied corpse into powder and created a firm pudding with it without even attempting to hide the flavor.

It just felt off to me at first but your deep dive is very impressive.

One day old accounts tend to raise a flag for me recently. There's been no mass migration event and they're pretty common for whatever reason. Voyager, the app, shows account ages so if I see one in c/all I tend to call them out.

If you're legit, you're legit, I'm warning others to take your opinions with caution.

Not disagreeing, just pointing out to other that your account is less than a day old and should be monitored for intention. Specifically if it's trying to provoke or inflame US political tensions.

It's just really refreshing instead some knee jerk, "You don't know their situation shit for brains!" It's measured to highlight a flaw in the core logic but civil in acknowledging the truth in the nuance. I hope we keep it! Lol.

This is like the fifteenth time I've seen this and it seems unique to Lemmy. You contradict their main point, but concede there is a reasonable undercurrent. I like this a lot. It makes the internet feel a lot less toxic.

Thanks to you and everyone else doing the same!

Where do they think senior employees come from?

I mean, if it's not every single one, it's enough to keep states like West Virginia redder than any other state. Pretty sure Trump received 68% of their votes.

Text from article:

David Rice, a disabled Army paratrooper who has been on probation since joining the U.S. Department of Energy in September, also learned Thursday night that he had lost his job.

Rice, who has been working as a foreign affairs specialist on health matters relating to radiation exposure, said he’d been led to believe that his job would likely be safe. But on Thursday night, when he logged into his computer for a meeting with Japanese representatives, he saw an email saying he’d been fired.

“It’s just been chaos,” said Rice, 50, who had just bought a house in Melbourne, Florida, after he got the job.

Rice said he agrees with the Trump administration’s goal of making the government more efficient, but objects to the random, scattershot approach being taken.
