Can someone explain why the data center use the water then expulse it as vapor instead of like recycling/ expulsing it as water? I get it that data center (hot) + water (cold) = vapor/steam but there could be a post processing to turn the steam to normal water but maybe that need regulation for that and it is a cost. Is that the only reason? Cost?

The number of private security firms the FT has been able to interview tells its own story, and their backgrounds too: experienceD, skilled staff leaving the FBI to set up business as entourage for our new feudal overlords.

People are losing faith in society as having anything approaching meritocracy. Rising to the top is no longer credible. And it’s not just security spending, it’s all that work on their mythos and origin stories promoting the idea that they are ubermensch.

Shaw is on what is known as a “combo card” visa – an employment visa, which she obtained through her employment at a maximum security juvenile facility, and an I-360 visa, which can grant immigration status to domestic violence survivors.

Shaw had recently received a letter confirming her visa renewal, not realising that the I-360 element of her visa was still pending approval.

“It wasn’t until she tried to come back across the border that she realised only half of the combination card – because it’s only one physical card – had been fully approved,” said Besancon.

Border officials did not need to detain Shaw and could have filed for humanitarian parole, Besancon said. Meanwhile, all three of Shaw’s children have had their I-360 visas approved, and Besancon alleged her youngest son was therefore being detained “illegally”.

Finland’s deputy prosecutor general’s office said on Monday it had filed charges of aggravated sabotage and aggravated interference with telecommunications against the captain and first and second officers of the Eagle S. The Cook Islands-registered tanker is understood to be part of Russia’s “shadow fleet” – comprising vessels that sail under foreign flags to evade sanctions.

The ship was carrying oil from Ust-Luga in Russia across the Gulf of Finland when, prosecutors allege, it dragged its anchor along the seabed for about 90km (56 miles) in December 2024.

In a country weary of school shootings, several states have taken a harder line on threats to schools. Among them is Tennessee, which passed a 2023 zero-tolerance law requiring any threat of mass violence against a school to be reported immediately to law enforcement.

The 13-year-old girl arrested in August 2023 had been texting with friends on a chat function tied to her school email at Fairview Middle School, which uses Gaggle to monitor students’ accounts.

  1. how to teach kids to be a good corpo zombie. On corporate/school chat you don’t chat otherwise you are sent to camp/prison /fired
  2. all of that monitoring for school shooting! What about banning gun that will be cheaper but yeah no ai software monitoring

Either way, Musk has reached a fork in the road. His AI platform, Grok, had this to say about his time in Washington: “His DOGE experiment resulted in operational turmoil, legal entanglements, and limited results, overshadowing modest gains . . . less a triumph than a cautionary tale.” If there is such a thing as a chainsaw that boomerangs, Musk invented it.
