Dear Wikipedia, you are welcome here in Canada!

They already created their own version. Go the fuck home and play in your shitty fort of conservative conspiracy theories.

If each of the following 70 counterexamples to an Old Earth were to have merely a 10% chance of being valid, then the probability that the Earth is billions of years old is less than one-tenth of 1%. In other words, the Earth must be young with a likelihood of more than 99.9%

Flawless logic

I grew up being indoctrinated with this shit. They truly believe it and a man named Ken Ham, the fucktard that he is, is largely responsible for this bullshit.

[–] taladar@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 hour ago

Well, to be fair Ken Ham has a sort of super-power, listening to him for any amount of time makes your brain leak out of your ears.

Sounds like I need to re-up on my donation to help save open information. Hopefully they can move operations to an actual friendly country.

You can also download all of Wikipedia in a package about 120GB in size. I have a snapshot from Jan 1, 2024 before the fascists took over.

Kiwix is the name of the offline browser designed for it.

Download mine yesterday!

It's no different to the Internet archive. They need to update their strategy for the threat of fascism and make it essentially impossible to destroy as long as people have PC's connected to the internet.

They need to decentralize operations with a distributed P2P protocol, redistribute their own servers across multiple jurisdictions, and allow individuals to donate resources for additional support/redundancy (as part of the P2P protocol).

I’m not sure, they killed Napster

P2P Wikipedia would be amazing

[–] belit_deg@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago

Now this is an interesting idea! We have more computing power and bandwith at our homes than ever before, and use only a fraction of it.

I would happily support Wikipedia, openmaps and other projects by seeding their data.

In could even be more fun and motivating to do, since you could see how you are making a difference in real time, as opposed to donations.

And in the short term at least move to Europe.

[–] AmidFuror@fedia.io -5 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

Yeah, they could move their servers to Hungary.

[–] shaserlark@sh.itjust.works 6 points 6 hours ago

Or Germany, or Italy, or Netherlands, or …, no threat of fascism in Europe /s

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 3 points 6 hours ago

Lol, good one.

[–] FrankFrankson@lemmy.world 49 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Wikipedia and all their damn propaganda spreadin! Why can't you be more like the good nonprofits that never spread any sort of propaganda you know like the NRA.

[–] InvertedParallax@lemm.ee 15 points 9 hours ago

Also the Southern Baptist church which wasn't founded to spread the good news about God demanding white people keep brown people as slaves, which now means you need to donate enough money so your pastor can buy the newest private jet.
