Corporations need centralized governance that active directory provides.

If you use Rufus to create a USB stick, there is an advanced option to disable the TPM check. So it's just an extra checkbox.

Yeah you're right, even in my cynicism I was still too hopeful for it LOL

Once we get to AGI it'll be nice to have an efficient llm so that the AGI can dream. As a courtesy to it.

He's asking an honest question, it's better to educate then to insult. To answer his question I would simply respond that whatever the response is to Greta's flotilla it can be used to either advertise change or protest against the status quo. There's nothing that says it won't end up like last time, but the constant effort towards more humanity is worth doing because that's how we tell ourselves that we are still human.

It's like telling people that jump from diet fad to diet fad all they need to do is count calories.

We all know the solution, none of these countries are doing it

The stock market is barely connected to reality and that is required to be updated every 3 months by every single company. Just imagine what the internet's going to be like.

The British plug serves the same point as an inset because there's a bit of non-conductive material on the plug itself that goes into the wall. If it's not fully inserted then the only thing showing is the non-conductive material.

It also has the thickest metal on the plug as far as I know. It's probably the only thing that the British have ever engineered better than the Germans.

I would say, pleasantly, that Bill Nye suffers from one of the classic blunders of academia. Just because you're smart about one specific niche subject in one specific niche field doesn't mean you are smart about every subject in every field. Most scientists are quite honestly just as knowledgeable as the rest of us in any field that they didn't academically study. That sounds like common sense, but once you have a PhD on your name you kind of forget it.

Bill Nye is an expert mechanical engineer, and a middling to decent planetologist. Any subject beyond that and he's just as good as you or me even though he speaks with an authoritative voice.

ELI5 for the 1.2M number:

Hitting 1 million signatures is the final goal but that's counted after the signatures are verified for legitimacy. With a petition like this, 20 to 30% of the signatures are stricken from the final count. So having a large buffer above the 1 million number is essential.

Well now that we know that he's an idiot, I have to look back at the things that I just took for granted. I didn't talk to any rocket scientists 10 years ago so I just believed him when he owned a company that was showing results. Hindsight is 20/20

I thought his threat was going to be that the universe either gets itself under control or he does it again?
