I 100% agree and totally get why I am being downvoted, but just disabling advertising or banning tracking cookies are not a magic fix to save the internet from the perspective of the companies that now show these ads. But I am definitely I favour of changes, the enshittication went way to far already. But there is more than big social media platforms is what I mean to say.

First and last paragraph:

ROME — An Italian referendum on granting faster citizenship to certain immigrants and seeking to strengthen labor rights failed because of low turnout, after Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and leading right-wing political parties urged Italians to boycott the democratic process.

Between 1974 and 1995, eight of nine referendums reached the quorum for voter participation. But since then, according to the Italian newspaper Il Post, only four of 34 referendums have had enough voters to be valid.

You can only legally take someone into custody if you have jurisdiction there. You could argue whether they do or do not have jurisdiction in the waters that Palastine claims but they were not even there, they were in international waters. That is kidnapping.

Hinckley isn't even mentioned in the article, the major plant they refer to is Sizewell B.

No new nuclear plant has been opened in the U.K. since Sizewell B in 1995.

I am especially glad Greta threw her 'weight' behind it because without the media attention it got them proving a point probably wouldn't have had a meaningful effect. Might still not, but we'll see.

I bet Oleksander is willing to let some babysitters come over too, if that would convince Trump to come

Russian rulers don't seem to care about the life of Russian civilians, so I'm really not surprised they also don't care for non-Russian civilians. Kudo's to HRW to make this story visual (making it more disturbing, but also more real (yes making this more real matters, because normal humans can't imagine something like this just happens because normal humans don't drop explosives on people walking to a bus stop for example)).

… 3-4 years to go … the west is then back to normalcy.

That sound a little optimistic lol

Joachim Streit has never stepped foot in Canada. But that hasn’t stopped the German politician from launching a tenacious, one-man campaign that he readily describes as “aspirational”: to have the North American country join the EU.

“We have to strengthen the European Union,” said Streit, who last year was elected as a member of the European parliament. “And I think Canada – as its prime minister says – is the most European country outside of Europe.”

I'm not against strong EU-Canada relation, but let's not rally behind a politician who's never been to Canada. Especially not a German one who launched a one-man campaign he himself describes as aspirational.
