@fizzle@quokk.au's sarcastic comment was in poor taste and probably went over the heads of a few people. I understand the sentiment behind the comment and I think l It was probably posted out of horror, frustration, anger at the news.

I think @T00l_shed@lemmy.world may have been trying to help connect the dots for anyone who didn't understand what fizzle was going on about.

This seems like a debate happening in the absence of a broadly supported anti-fascist campaign or movement.

Where does one get anti-fascist combat training?

Looks like this. Who knows where the money goes.

I'm a member of SA. As far as I can see this is all a bit of a storm in a teacup. Shit of RCO to publish that members bulletin and make more demands on us. How do they expect us to trust anything they say from now on? Oh well, you live and you learn. Or you don't.

They did. In a handwritten letter. Delivered by messenger pigeon.

Yes I read it. That's why I posted it. Nuanced opinion on the protests and the current government.

Feel free to drop quotes that you thought sounded like AI.

I think The M4A rallies are an attempt to build a broader movement and/or alliance to agitate within, propagandise to, and recruit from to a militant nazi movement and/or party. In that sense I don't think they're an attempt to rebrand.

This stunt is a bit different. This is a nazi pride rally. I think the aim of this is to stand out from the crowd within the broader anti-immigration movement they are building. I reckon these knuckleheads would have been reassured they would be taken care of. Lose your job because you're a nazi? We'll take care of you etc. It's possible they're organised well enough and have a leadership that can make such assurances. I don't know.

I think it might be a bit too easy to dismiss their chances of making any impact. Ironically they appear to be one of the only groups taking advantage of the political vacuum that exists outside of electoralism. By this I mean the lack of any militant mass movements or organisations agitating for economic, political and social change outside of parliament. There are lots of left activist groups, but there's no clear shared strategy.

However, most wore dark sunglasses and hats, indicating they hoped not to be identified.

I think they wanted to be recognised.

Maybe they could get the regular train running between Casino and Brisbane first. LIKE IT FUCKING USED TO.

The ACT Legislative Assembly has today moved to enshrine access to adequate housing as a human right, in an Australian-first decision that passed with bipartisan support.

Australians soon facing age checks when viewing adult websites [& search engines, social media, file sharing, etc, etc]

And all service providers/hosts around the world are expected to comply.

Here's one summary of the looming access control measures.

Reading and understanding all this (and the linked sources) feels so.. difficult, obtuse, complex.

Australia Post has suspended most postage to the US ahead of new tariffs on low-value parcels, with businesses wanting to ship to American customers now unable to use the government-owned carrier.

Some online retailers had pre-empted issues with sending goods to the US and stopped shipping there in recent weeks, as global postal services described "chaos".

From Friday, August 29, parcels valued under $US800 ($1,230) imported into the US will attract tariffs or flat fees.
