The difference is that Linus does not actively seem to be part of the cult itself rather than using it as the effective tool that it is for someone who already has his type of skill set. He can actually understand and double check inputs and outputs because he already built a foundation of great skill.

Most of the AI techbro community just wants an excuse to stop paying people anything for their labor and get eternal digital slaves to replace them. They aren't wanting to use it as a tool to help them unravel complexity, they are just using it as a smash and grab for power and control. Linus... isn't that, and maybe it's not great that he's embracing it now, during the height of controversy. I kind of wish he had waited for the crash an mania to die down a little and then show it as a useful tool for people who already have skills.

LLMs are useless for a lot of shit but they are pretty damn useful for code. I think some of his recent work finding bugs in old code is evidence of that.

It's one of the features I love about Njalla for domains the most.

You don't even need a ddns service because they support updating through simple https calls.

So I have a super tiny script that basically checks the WAN IP through ipify, then checks that against the routers current WAN IP, and if they match it does nothing and ends, but if its different, it sends out a curl with the new IP. I have it running every few minutes in a cronjob. It's actually technically my service with the most uptime according to healthchecks.io.

I think this "ending" of Futurama may have been the first one I have actually been really pleased with. It seemed so thoughtful and fitting.

yeah it was cancelled too soon.

Common Side Effects is created by the same people, though.

Beyond all that... AppImage? Fuck that's what they're going with, really? I get that it's platform agnostic or whatever but it's literally my least favorite way to get an app delivered to me because it's so fucking opaque. I know that's probably an unpopular opinion, but I do, I hate AppImages. It feels like the lazy assholes way of committing to Linux support when they're a giant corporation. This isn't some guy coding it all on his own in his basement for no money because it's open source. I can live with that because that guy is just one guy and maybe doesn't have the time or resources to pack it five different ways. But a company that big? Go fuck yourself, Tim Sweeney.
