I've used Armbian and DietPi. Currently running a magic mirror on a Rock64 and a NAS on an ODROID HC4. Of the two OSes, I think I'd recommend Armbian. Skip installing a DE and just get a basic X session with a simple web browser.

Note that MagicMirror is web based, so the setup steps for putting up a web browser would be similar.

Generally you want the dirtiest part on the outside. I find for things like jeans, I leave them outside-out; T-shirts are often inside-out.

The other reason to turn things inside-out is if there are designs or other features that you want to protect.

In short, whatever is on the outside is going to get the "rougher" treatment.

You're right.

I'm gonna keep saying buttkiss though.

YMMV I guess, but among the thousands of applications I've submitted looking for work, LinkedIn helped exactly buttkiss percent. The job search system is completely broken, and a terrible platform like LinkedIn isn't helping.

No guarantee, but if we all delete our accounts, they'll shut down that cesspool and we can all move on with our lives.

You know what works even better?

Deleting your LinkedIn account.

If you want something more capable that will handle more experimentation, go for the mini PC. If you know exactly what you want to host and you want to prioritize low power consumption, the pi might be a better choice.

I run CachyOS, it works great for me. It's not the easiest one, but I like the rolling release style and it's by far the fastest distro I've used (cold boots to gnome desktop in maybe 10 seconds).

I imagine it's a luxury from the days before our current standards of climate control.

Imagine you don't have a central heating unit--you've got fireplaces, and that's it. You wake up, and it's a brisk 8°C in your house. Staying in your nice cozy bed might not sound so bad.

It may also be a leftover thing from days when people couldn't afford to stay in bed in the morning. Only the rich could afford to lounge around that way, so having that once a year would have been a way to treat someone like royalty.
