I mean... They just put up the tax on alcohol again, so... But I agree. This means more black market tobacco & vapes. However, I imagine they would counter with "Finding the money in the healthcare we no longer have to provide for smoking related illness" or some such. (Even though many of these people will have private healthcare if that matters).

Nek minute all smokers are conscientiously popping their butts in the bin. Rendering the butt-warning (lol) far less impactful.

I don't think so/I hope not. As someone already pointed out he's a fascist - and wants to be an Aus Trump. People here, mostly, don't want that. So by appealing to Australians he looks better. And also said basically 'Trump is stoopid & these tariffs are dumb'. So win-win.

These public service jobs are Nurses, Doctors, Teachers & alike. Not bureaucrats. This would be a ridiculous move. Yes, it's $5 Billion worth - however, Scomo spent $20 Billion on outsourcing similar jobs and consulting...
