Any state level talk of nuclear threat is always done from a position of weakness and in open admission of the poverty of your conventional force. It also shows a lack of understanding and inhumanity.

Thanks, I do want to read that as I do not believe the current developments in AI to be hype, I think it is probably an inflection point in our civilisation. More even than that really, I think in a universal way an argument could be made the point of organic intelligence is to bring about inorganic intelligence. But it is an afternoon read and I have to find an afternoon.

It is all building to him putting the gun to his head with the promise it will make him stronger than ever. He will retaliate to these retaliations because it is all he understands. All his life he has just ignored or run head first at problems planning to solve them in the moment with his superior mind and it has never worked, and he never learns. More than that he never sees it as failed, and that is what so much of the US voted for and the world saw it.

This does sound like it is in fact Russia that is paranoid, a lot of recent Russian behaviour makes sense if you think of them as a cornered and scared animal. Russia has somehow become convinced that the NATO powers want to destroy them when in reality I think NATO wants nothing more than to ignore Russia. Perhaps this actually is what Russia fears, not destruction but to be overlooked and the loss of its former position in the world, a position that was always largely an illusion.

2022 was only a pandemic that at the time many thought might decimate the population and caused a near global house isolation response, this now is far worse.
