More pointlessly cruel policy changes from the UK's Labour government.

This won't even be taken to a parliamentary vote because the party knows it wouldn't pass.

Imran Hussain, from the Refugee Council charity, told the BBC that reviewing the status of refugees - who were successful, not failed, asylum seekers - would be costly and distract the Home Office from speeding up the system.

He also warned that if refugees felt they "had one foot in the departure lounge" even though their asylum claim had been accepted, then this would make it more difficult for them to hold down employment and to integrate.

So this genuinely helps no one. All it does is pander to the far right, who will never vote Labour.

Photo of Pedro Sánchez, ~~president of Spain~~ Spanish Prime Minister and leader of a class-traitorous social democratic party that has succeeded in getting the US to break off trade relations with Spain.

::: spoiler From Aljazeera

“Spain has been terrible,” Trump told reporters during a meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

The president added he told US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to “cut off all dealings” with Spain.

“We’re going to cut off all trade with Spain. We don’t want anything to ‌do with Spain,” said Trump.

Tehran directly pointed the finger at the Israeli occupation for being behind the aerial attack that targeted the facilities of the Aramco oil company in Saudi Arabia this Monday morning. Sources quoted a military official as saying that the operation falls under the category of a 'false flag,' through which Tel Aviv seeks to stir up regional affairs and divert attention away from the military operations it is conducting against non-civilian targets within Iranian territory.

Iranian military sources confirmed that Aramco facilities have never been among Iran's target bank until this moment, despite previous warnings to place all American and Israeli interests in the region under fire. The official explained that Iran does not hesitate to claim responsibility for any strikes it carries out, noting that intelligence data warns of similar Israeli plans that may target the Port of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates in the coming period.

When those bombs fall, they ... change politics in the target. They inject Nationalism into the regime. They inject nationalism into the society. And they essentially fuse the regime and society against the air power attacker.

The Banality of Artificial Intelligence

What happens when an AI hallucination leads to bombing an elementary school?

It appears likely that the US government is using Anthropic, OpenAI, Google and/or xAI data models for processing signals intelligence (SIGINT), for AI-generated "kill lists" to determine where to drop their bombs.

Image shows a nazi german chemical war factory on the left in black-and-white (with logos of companies Bayer and BASF overlaying it) and an image of a new AI datacenter on the right (with logos of companies OpenAI and Anthropic overlaying it). In the middle of the two industrial sites is an equal sign. On the right is a question mark.
[right] This AI datacenter is a machinery of war. Its LLM hallucinations decide which children to assassinate [left] This IG Farben (Bayer/BASF) factory in Auschwitz produced Zyklon B for the Nazis, who murdered over a million children

In Apr 2024, +972 (an Israeli news outlet) published a >9,000 word article describing how the Israeli military had been using Artificial Intelligence to decide which (residential) buildings, hospitals, and schools to bomb in Gaza.

In Feb 2026, the US (and Israel) bombed Iran -- killing over 100 schoolchildren (and Ali Khamenei).

In Mar 2026, it appears that the US has likely built a similar system, leveraging US AI companies' tech to decide which (school) buildings to bomb, false-positive hallucinations be damned.

Who targeted the Shajareh Tayyiba girls' elementary school in Minab, Iran? Could it have been an AI hallucination? A false-positive?

Apple appears to have prematurely revealed the name of its rumored lower-cost MacBook model, which is expected to be announced this Wednesday. A regulatory document for a "MacBook Neo" (Model A3404) has appeared on Apple's website. Unfortunately, there are no further details or images available yet. While the PDF file does not contain the "MacBook Neo" name, it briefly appeared in a link on Apple's regulatory website for EU compliance purposes.

I mean, the fall of USSR was the biggest happening of the 20th century, if it were reversed, the world would return to being the same, thus proving that nothing ever happens.

Why? Why would you brag about this? What possibly could this do other than destablize Iran and push it into further violence and chaos?

Oh right, that is exactly what the US and Israel wants...

Make no mistake, Trump doesn't give a fuck about the Iranian people, he and the other forces alligned here want Iran to turn into a Libya-type failed state situation.

I posted this meme to the Lemmy Shitpost community. I reckoned that it might generate a bit of debate, and would probably end up locked, but the entire post got deleted, and moreover, I'm now forbidden from sharing political posts to the community. Political posts are not against the rules of the community.

I have reason to believe that the post was deleted not because it was controversial, but because the moderator (Decoy321) disagreed with the political slant of the meme. The reason I find this suspicious is because other controversial posts, such as one about veganism remains up, and Decoy321 seemed to enjoy the fact it was controversial:

“Antiseptic judicial rhetoric cannot do justice to what is happening,” U.S. District Judge Joseph Goodwin, a Clinton appointee, wrote in a Feb. 19 opinion. “Across the interior of the United States, agents of the federal government — masked, anonymous, armed with military weapons, operating from unmarked vehicles, acting without warrants of any kind — are seizing persons for civil immigration violations and imprisoning them without any semblance of due process.”

“The systematic character of this practice and its deliberate elimination of every structural feature that distinguishes constitutional authority from raw force place it beyond the reach of ordinary legal description. It is an assault on the constitutional order,” he continued.
