The UN disaster relief agency said it was having to dial back aid plans as the humanitarian sector faced "the deepest funding cuts ever." it comes after the Trump administration said it would reduce funding to the UN.

The United Nations (UN) Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said on Monday said it was forced to drastically scale back aid plans due to "brutal funding cuts."

OCHA is seeking $29 billion (€ 25.7 billion) in funding in a drastic budget revision.

That's in contrast to the amount sought in December when the UN had said it needed $44 billion to help in over 70 countries, providing assistance to "180 million people, including refugees" under the Global Humanitarian Overview 2025 (GHO).

The Witkruis Monument — which means White Cross Monument in the language spoken by South Africa’s white Afrikaner minority — is a memorial only to white people who were killed on farms over the last three decades. It’s a visceral snapshot seized on by some South Africans to drive a discredited narrative that white farmers in the majority Black country are being targeted in a widespread, race-based system of persecution.

The killings of farmers and farmworkers, regardless of race, are a tiny percentage of the country’s high level of crime, and they typically occur during armed robberies, according to available statistics and two studies carried out over the last 25 years.

Yet because wealthier white people own 72% of South Africa’s privately owned farms, according to census data, they are disproportionately affected by these often brutal crimes. Black people own just 4% of the country’s privately owned farmland, and the rest is owned by people who are mixed race or of Indian heritage.

First: I've tried Tailscale, for some reason it works awful for me so I'm avoiding that option if possible.

I am trying to have a single server that has a VPN port exposed to connect to it, but routes traffic through a comercial VPN (mullvad ideally) to privately share my linux ISOs. So far I haven't been able to achieve this, it sees I can't use the VPN server (wg-easy) + VPN (mullvad gui), only the one that start first work.

I absolutely love spicy food, and it's never affected my gut. I was actually confused when I read about people getting the shits after a curry and wondered if it was a joke. I've had curries so hot it caused people to recoil into a coughing and sweating fit after they dipped their finger in and had a taste and I have one every other day. I feel the burning in my mouth, my face turns red, my forehead sweats, my esophagus feels weird, but (tmi I know lol) when I go to the toilet I'm completely fine. no gut pains either.

It's never made sense to me that some people refuse to drink water even if they know it keeps you functioning properly. The same people will complain of constipation or dry skin but don't want to do the thing that fixes their issues.

So I just woke up from what might be one of the weirder nightmares I've ever had. It didn't happen, but it did introduce a scenario for which I am not sure what the right thing to do in that moment is. I thought I'd toss it to y'all for ideas on how to best deescalate the scenario in my dream as I have often found myself in dejavu situations.

I was walking into an indoor mall of some sort when a woman stops me and tells me that I owe money for something. I disagree, turn around and begin to leave when I see the woman exiting the mall ahead of me and a male security officer (not police) begins to follow me. As I step off the curb and onto the parking area blacktop, the security guy reaches over and pinches my arm. In shock and surprise, I about face and shout "What the fuck was that for?" He replies something about a cop that was lost as I woke up with a spiked heart rate.

As far as dream interpretation, I'm pretty sure that it's just the result of stress from everything that is happening in the US and the world at the moment plus caffeine before bed, plus my cat probably deciding to pad with claws on my arm at the moment that I woke up.

Again, it hasn't happened. It was a dream. But a long time ago, when I was in JROTC, our SAI said that the best way to deal with a situation was not to deal with it in the moment, but rather to come up with how you are going to deal with it before hand. Basically, play what-if with the situation until you have covered every likely possible scenario.
