Growing use of AI tech comes at expense of workers’ rights, protections and pay, report warns

Billion-dollar tech platforms are aggressively pushing for deregulation of the “Uber for nursing” industry in an effort to expand gig work in the healthcare sector, according to a report published Tuesday.

The report from the AI Now Institute, Uber for Nursing Part II: How Gig Nursing Companies Are Lobbying States to Deregulate Healthcare, examines the use of artificial intelligence to staff hospitals and other healthcare facilities.

The report warns that growing use of the technology comes at the expense of workers’ rights, protections and pay.

Does anyone have feedback on how well these work?

I have fire alarms on different floors of the house and I'm wondering if this device will be able to listen for the alarm from another floor. The alarm is still quite loud throughout the house but the instructions say it needs to be right next to an existing alarm.

I'd rather not have to buy a bunch of these if possible.

Update to my Homelab, I've started 3D printing brackets, and I moved almost everything to Kubernettes

I still have a lot more I want to print, and some custom things I need to design, which I currently have no idea how to do, but keen to learn and figure that out.

This is what's in my k8s cluster right now:

Hungary’s future prime minister, Péter Magyar, is already causing a diplomatic stir before officially taking office. He confirmed that he had invited Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Budapest—but at the same time made it clear that Netanyahu would end up behind bars in Hungary.

According to the future prime minister, the invitation was part of a general gesture extended to all heads of state and government whom he had invited to Budapest to mark the 70th anniversary of the 1956 Revolution. When asked whether he had explicitly pointed out the impending arrest to Benjamin Netanyahu in a personal conversation, Péter Magyar responded with quick wit. "I do not have to spell everything out over the phone. I assume that every head of state and government is aware of the international legal situation,” he explained. He had not sold anyone a “pig in a poke”—the legal facts were out in the open for everyone to see, he added.

What is the reason for all the movement when we really need to go pee? Is it a subconscious reaction to distract the mind from a full bladder, or does sloshing the pee around in your bladder make it somehow better? I would assume not, since that probably increases the physical urge that you need to go pee, but why then do we dance and hop...
