"Don't let anyone pass on the way, anyone with large civilian bags, just f*ck them up," a Russian commander can be heard saying in audio published by HUR on Oct. 22.

The order to kill civilians was issued by the field commander of Russia's 30th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade, part of the 2nd Combined Arms Army of the Central Military District, according to HUR.

The radio chatter is allegedly linked to a video released Oct. 20 by the 7th Corps of Ukraine’s Air Assault Forces that, according to the Ukrainian military, shows the aftermath of an incident in which a Russian assault group, after infiltrating behind Ukrainian lines, shot and killed several unarmed civilians in Pokrovsk.

The alleged war crime in the front-line hot spot in Donetsk Oblast was initially reported on Oct. 19 by Ukrainian volunteer Denys Khrystov, who evacuates civilians from front-line settlements and documents his work on social media.

In a Telegram post, Khrystov shared a video given to him by soldiers fighting in Pokrovsk showing the casualties of the Russian attack.

Russia’s leading domestic violence support center announced Wednesday it was shutting down over intensifying government pressure and a loss of resources due to its “foreign agent” designation.

Founded in 2015 and formally registered in 2018, Nasiliu.net (“No to Violence”) had been the country’s most prominent organization supporting survivors of domestic violence.

The organization says it has provided direct assistance to more than 10,000 people.

It handled nearly 8,000 individual cases at the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022-2023, including legal support, therapy, emergency shelter and online counseling.

“This November, Nasiliu.net would have turned 10. We wanted to mark the anniversary with you to remember everything we’ve done and to gather strength to keep going,” founder and director Anna Rivina wrote in a farewell letter.

“But unfortunately, that’s no longer possible. Nasiliu.net is closing,” she said.

Throughout its existence, Nasiliu.net ran nationwide public-awareness campaigns that brought the issue of domestic violence into the mainstream, developed Russia’s first dedicated mobile app for victims and launched a comprehensive website with resources and legal guidance.

Russia’s Justice Ministry labeled Nasiliu.net a “foreign agent” in December 2020. The ministry also designated Rivina as a “foreign agent” in early 2023, accusing her of distributing “false information” about the Russian military.

On Oct. 21, the hacker group Black Mirror released the third batch of leaked documents from Russian state defense conglomerate Rostec. The new release, consisting of more than 250 documents, includes materials related to cooperation with Algeria, Iran, and India, the group said.

One document describes meetings held in late July 2024 between Russian companies and representatives of Iran’s Center for Progress and Development (CPDI). Other meetings connected Russian and Iranian aviation firms. “At a specially organized exhibition of avionics products, the Iranian side presented to Russian representatives various avionics systems developed and produced by Iranian enterprises for aircraft, helicopters, and UAVs,” the document reads.

According to the papers, the two sides agreed that Iran would send the Russian companies KRET (Concern Radio-Electronic Technologies) and RPKB (Ramenskoye Instrument Design Bureau) technical specifications and price information for laser altimeters, laser rangefinders, and lidar systems. Russian representatives also reportedly asked Iran to consider manufacturing “certain parts and semi-finished components for civil aviation” on its territory.

Georg Maier, the interior minister of the German state of Thuringia, announced that he has evidence suggesting possible espionage activities carried out by Alternative for Germany (AfD) in the interests of Russia. As the German business-focused newspaper Handelsblatt reports, Maier's concerns are shared by Marc Henrichmann, chair of the Bundestag committee overseeing intelligence services, and his deputy, Konstantin von Notz.

According to Maier, AfD consistently uses parliamentary inquiries to gather information about Germany’s critical infrastructure — from transport networks and water supply to digital systems and the energy sector. In Thuringia alone, the party submitted 47 such inquiries over the past year, and their nature, the minister said, has become increasingly detailed. Similar inquiries are being filed at the federal level, which, in Maier’s view, raises suspicions of possible coordination. AfD appears particularly interested in data concerning police IT systems, counter-drone technologies, and the equipment of civil protection and healthcare services.

“It gives the impression that AfD is acting on the Kremlin’s orders in its inquiries,” Maier said.

Von Notz also adds that AfD “harms Germany by deliberately becoming a mouthpiece for dictators and spreading their narratives in society and parliaments.” He noted that the heads of Germany’s intelligence agencies have long warned about Russia's use of extremist forces and “specific individuals” in pursuit of its interests.

The latest accusations were prompted by the planned trip to Moscow by Markus Frohnmaier, deputy head of AfD’s parliamentary group in the Bundestag. Martin Huber, secretary general of the Christian Social Union (CSU), urged AfD leadership to cancel the visit, warning that otherwise it could be regarded as treason. Frohnmaier responded that he “serves solely the interests of Germany.”

Interior Minister Maier emphasized that the issue goes beyond a single trip, warning that AfD poses “a threat to Germany’s security” because it rejects democratic principles and leans toward an authoritarian model. He said the party spreads disinformation, undermines trust in institutions, and cooperates with far-right organizations and “foreign enemies of democracy.”
