I am happy some seem to finally face the truth and recognize their mistake... this is the first of this type of regret-pieces where at the very least the face-eaten man does not claim he would STILL vote for trump... so I give him credit for that
And yes, they were lied to but come on... it was not a subtle lie, hard to verify, based on mostly truth.. the lie was so outrageously evident, I cannot believe anyone is stupid enough to buy it
Some San Diego cop found out the same thing a few weeks ago. They arrested, and deported, his British wife. IIRC that was at her final immigration hearing, where she would have been given a green card.
Well there is precedent for that, religion for example. Fox News another example

I think blaming it on gullibility or ignorance is wrong. These people aren't that stupid, they're just hatefully people that didn't think they would be targets. I feel bad for this dude's wife being kidnapped, but he can rot in Hell with every other Trump voter.
I feel like that is overly reductive. These are people who are seeing their lives become harder year over year, and are being handed a convenient scapegoat by people they were taught to trust. Their biggest crime is usually a lack of critical thinking.... to start with. It often grows from there to a lack of empathy.
It is pretty amazing. Being a well-known rapist and demented pathological liar isn’t disqualifying from one of the most powerful positions in the world.
It was astounding a decade ago. Now it’s . . . well, whatever this is.
Working around a few of them, the biggest factor I can tell is that they've been sheltered and groomed their whole life to think that way. Anything else would just seem foreign. (Like trying to convince a Christian that Jesus wasn't white, if he was ever real)
Since a lot of these beliefs are so ingrained into their psyche, an existential crisis, like what he may be experiencing, is likely one of the few things that can work.
The only silver lining here is that if this dude has actually changed his mind, he's probably got better access to change other people's minds than any of us who never fell for the lies.
I was thinking the exact same. Each one of these small events has a blast radius.
I know some very smart engineers that totally bought into his stupid lies. Like. Wtf. How can they be methodical in gathering facts for debugging software bugs, but then also completely fail to think for 2 seconds about any trump claims.
Because his lies target emotions not intelligence, and a lot of engineers have absolutely dogshit emotional intelligence. If it "feels" right enough they don't bother to notice that it's prima fascia ludicrous
Well you know what they say... the only prerequisite to believe a lie, it to want to believe the lie
He still vote for Trump its a fucking cult they don't learn.
I promise you despite all this they still don't have awareness of others. They only care that they are impacted.
