Just so you are all aware, another candidate is on the ballot for that district: Bushra Amiwala. She also advocates for abolishing ICE. She has our (DSA) recommendation in our voter guide:
Reasons we don't like Kat:
She was a republican up until a few years ago and was raised in a republican house. That doesn't always matter, but i think it does with Kat
She's just not in favor of Medicare for all and doesn't seem to have given a lot of social services, much mind
She refuses to work with or acknowledge DSA, refuses to take the questionnaire, and has bailed on several engagements.
she prioritized JUF over DSA. That's the lobby making it difficult to repeal the anti BDS law.
Overall, she seems to be a social media star and riding on that. I value her efforts (photo ops?) at Broadview, but over all it's a sloppy campaign according to our Electoral Group.
All I can find is that her parents and grandmother were Republicans. Her Palestinian father coming to America after the 1948 Israel-Palestine war. Lot of refugees gravitate to whichever party was in power when they immigrated here.

Can't find anything about her being a Republican prior to this, just a reporter.
I did see the town hall she did with other candidates holding yes/nope signs and she confidently signalled all the right answers that wild align with Progressives/DSA.
That is a bummer though if she's resisted DSA assocation.
But yeah I get being cautious about "new progressives" that are turncoats like Gabbard and Fetterman. Shit is pure evil.
That's interesting. But going into this final stretch, its clear that Kat is at least viable in the sense that she's basically in the top 2, top 3, depending on your count, and all the other candidates are quite further behind. Voting starts what like, basically now?
It will be interesting to see the counts, and if Bushra gets enough votes to have pushed Kat over the line.
Also, where are you getting the anti-medicare for all stance? I was just checking her site to confirm and she's very clearly pro-universal single-payer healthcare (aka, m4a).
Single payer vs Medicare For all.. Basically: abolish private insurance
Among the top 3, who is your pick?
I would vote for Bushra if I was in the district
