Get told we need to organize so we fire up the largest protests in US history then immediately get told we did it wrong. I get it more needs done but people discounting the work that's been done are hurting more than helping
Protests are not an effective way to accomplish change. Only to build support for a cause. At this point the cause has more than enough support shown to it and real action is needed.
We had two previous no-kings protests. What did that lead to? Even the Democrats refused to gold any meaningful opposition and are continuing their neocon course because they believe that these protests are pro-Democrat protests.
They just like to complain
Nah. My bloc is already feeding the hungry, adverse possessing the homeless, arming people, building solidarity, etc….
Yet Americans can't hold a despot to a trial, or burn his seat for the deathcamps he’s done, or even cease his assets.
Nazi country for a Nazi people.
These critiques have been around since long before the first no kings and you should probably engage with them instead of being so dismissive. Among organizers the value of these kinds of protests are often a subject of hot debate.
First, what exactly are the demands that No Kings is asking for? What is the ask of the protest or protest organizers? Go to the website. Take a look around. There are no specific asks.
How many new voters were signed up as a result of No Kings? How much closer are we to a general strike? What direct actions are being planned as a result of No Kings.
I do not care for the politics of masturbation which is effectively what modern protests are: a self serving act of release. And I say this as some who has been an organizer for decades.
The frustration sitting behind the energy people bring to no kings, to take that energy and steer it into.. into nothing? Like I genuinely don't know what No Kings is other than a feel good rally, because they litterally have no call to action.
I think it's a perfectly legitimate stance to take that these kinds of protest politics are extraordinary self serving.
Define “Organize.”
