It's not just about getting elected first. You need to keep getting elected. In order to do that, you need to phone bank for money at the RNC/DNC (2 short blocks from Congress!). If you don't meet your minimum revenue, the leadership of the party will turn on you and put a challenger in your district to primary you out.
